The perfect murder right down to the motive, victim, ally and scapegoat. The last thing anyone needs is a serial murderer learning how the worst of the worst have succeeded in the past. Will anyone be able to survive the man known as “The Wolf” or will they, too, vanish without a trace?
Excerpt: “I know you won’t tell a soul, because this is as close to the case as
you’ll ever get.”
“Why?”
Richard strolled around to the opposite side of the bench top, leaning
his elbows on the surface and facing Jed directly. “Do you know
anything about the Wolf?”
Jed shrugged. “Nobody knows anything about the Wolf. Apart from
the fact that people are disappearing.”
“And if you were the Wolf, and you found out somebody was trying
to track you down—that some college kid with no real idea of how to
defend himself was trying to outsmart you—what would you do?”
Jed swallowed but tried to hide it. “I’d make him disappear too.”
“So why on earth would you want to get involved?”
“I don’t know. But it’s probably the same reason you’re involved.”
Richard stopped a moment. Smiled. “I doubt it.”
