Bull and China (Razor's Edge)

Author(s): Rayven Renshaw

China walks into a bar... and makes Bull an offer he'll find impossible to refuse.

The life of a female warrior can be a lonely one. One look at China's array of weapons tells Bull she's a warrior, and dangerous -- maybe as dangerous as he is. China needs careful handling.

Maybe Bull can be the one to tame her.

"I'm looking for Bull."

The room fell silent, sound petering away as her voice rang out. China didn't know whether people stopped speaking because of her sudden and dramatic appearance, the fact that she had spoken over their conversations, or the name of the man she was looking for. She hoped it was because Bull lived up to his reputation, but only time would tell.

No one replied, but a few furtive glances to the other end of the bar directed her gaze that way. At the same time she was careful to keep the customers and staff in her peripheral vision. She had already edged to the side so the wall covered her back. Although it was unlikely they would try, she wasn't going to allow anyone to sneak up on her.

She noted some of the patrons were already gazing with longing looks at the adornments that trimmed her outfit and weapons. She didn't flaunt them, and none were worth much, but in these parts a single coin was plenty. Pity poverty didn't stop people from drinking. Most of this lot would rather drink than eat -- she had noticed that in a glance. Most would rob her, and a few would rape her -- alive or dead, and dead was safer... for them.

Only a few were intelligent enough to avert their gazes. They knew a worthy opponent when they saw one, even if that combatant was female. Most of the other women in the room were serving girls.

Resting her hand on her blade, she stared down those who were defiant enough to glare back. It took only seconds for heads to turn away. Marking the two who continued to stare, she turned on her heel, approaching the bar and the man standing in the darkest corner. As she neared him, her pace slowed. My, but this motherfucker is tall and broad. She couldn't make out any of his features, but she could tell he was big. "Alhard Bull?"

"Who wants to know?" The voice was soft, paradoxically threatening because of that fact.

Swallowing down her immediate and shocking fear, she opened her mouth to speak. Even then, it took a few seconds for the sound to come out. "My name is China Hifumara, and I have a proposition for Alhard Bull."

His back and shoulders were in shadow. Light fell down the line of his front from his chin. She couldn't see his eyes, but she could see the way his lip curled sardonically. He lifted a tankard from the bar to his lips, taking a mouthful of the brew, before saying, "A proposition, is it?"

Oh man, yes! She could see he was the one she'd been looking for. Everything about him was hard planes and angles topped off with curves in the right places. His prominent shoulders. His buttocks. The bulge at his groin. She didn't believe he was hard, but unless he padded his breeches, there was promise in there.

China realised she'd forgotten to keep an eye on the room. She automatically scanned the scene, but just as fast she noted no one else was a threat as long as she was talking to Bull. Even the bar's two most belligerent personalities had turned their gazes in other directions. For the moment at least, she was safe with Alhard Bull. "Can't hurt to hear me out," she challenged.

"True." He sounded amused.

Silence weighed heavily between them. He finally glanced her way. A spot of light flashed as it struck his eye. She still couldn't make out the colour, but the movement illuminated some strands of his hair. Blond. She had a thing for blonds. They contrasted so well with her dark hair. If he had blue eyes, she was a goner.

"Out with it then."

"I'd rather discuss my proposition..." she glanced at the closest patrons, "Somewhere more private."

As if on cue, the men sitting near them suddenly decided they needed to change their seats.

"The thing is..." China stopped. Swallowed. Bull had moved a little, and she could see one eye. Blue. Damn!

Bull waited. She could sense he would lose interest quickly. "The thing is, it's been a long time since I've had a good fucking. I've been looking for the right man."
