Hot and sexy. Sex on a stick. The man was so hot a frozen Popsicle would melt from across the room. Gavin O'Brady oozed sensual magnetism. Secreted it from... Every. Single. Pore. The man couldn't help it. He didn't even notice it. Her sisters would never let her live this down. A Siren entranced by a mere human. How ironic was that?

Aline wanted to slam her head on the tabletop to stop the wayward thoughts. Too late. He'd noticed her looking at him. Staring.

She nearly melted into a puddle of soaking wet desire at the way he said her name. That deep voice. His irresistible Australian accent. The way that one curl of hair always flopped in front of his left eye. She barely resisted the urge to touch the silky strands of hair, and made the mistake of focusing on his long, thick eyelashes.

He was too damned sexy. His brilliant blue gaze was piercing as he stared at her. Suddenly he waved his hand in front of her face. The move was unexpected -- so much so that she jerked back and had to grab onto the edge of the lab table to keep from falling off her stool.

"Did you see the results from that latest test?"

His breath tickled her cheek as he leaned too far into her personal space. Personal space? Hah. He left her none. It took every ounce of her rapidly vanishing willpower to keep from grabbing him and covering his body with hers. Oh Lord, he was too close. Her hands began to tremble, and sweat formed on her brow. Her sisters would laugh at her if they could see her now. "We talked about this, O'Brady. Remember?" If she kept using his name hopefully she wouldn't forget he was just a human that could easily be ensnared in her spell.

Gavin frowned and moved back, barely giving her enough room to breathe. "I'm sorry, I keep forgetting how much larger your personal space is than anyone else's in the entire world."

Don't slap him, she reminded herself. She didn't really want to slap him, she wanted to kiss him. She could keep her life compartmentalized. Emotions in one box, work in another. No room to mix the two.

"You smell so good." He leaned in and sniffed her neck. "I love the way that jasmine perfume mixes with your natural scent. Did you see the report?"

Aline jerked when his nose brushed against her pulse point. How the hell could he say something so utterly sexy and so blase in the same breath? "You're doing it again." A sexual thrill raced up her spine and down each and every nerve ending. Today was going to be the day the sexy beast drove her past the breaking point. The day she'd crack.

"Sorry. I'm sorry."

Judging by his expression he was either horrified or fascinated by her reaction. She had to get out of here and get some fresh air even if it was below freezing and she didn't have a jacket. It would be the equivalent of a cold shower.

Gavin followed her out of the complex. As they walked, he removed his jacket and draped it over her shoulders. God, it -- he -- smelled so good. She could push him down and gobble him up. Wanted to lick and kiss him all over. Aline fisted her hands and leaned on the railing that looked out over the frozen lake surrounding them. How ironic was it that she'd gone into hiding up here in the freezing cold depths of Northern Canada and now she was the one crazed with desire.

"Are you okay?"

"No. Yes." With a shake of her head, Aline removed his jacket and pressed it back against him. "Please, don't be such a gentleman."

"You're going to get sick."

"The cold doesn't bother me."

Silence stretched past the point of comfort. Gavin stared at her until he finally accepted the jacket back. "Seems to me that's the only thing that doesn't bother you."

"You don't understand."

"Then explain it to me. You're more confusing than any other woman I've ever known."

Aline stared up into the gray sky. How did she tell him she wasn't like any other woman he'd ever known? She gripped the ice-covered railing, enjoying the bite of pain that slightly dulled her burning desire.

"That's it. I give up. I can't do this anymore. I don't even know what I did wrong."

He thought he'd done something wrong? Why not? She made it seem that way when she constantly reminded him not to crowd her, touch her, or breathe on her. Had she been trying so hard not to snare him with her power that she hadn't even noticed he was honestly attracted to her? Was it his own feelings and desires or had her power slipped free over the past few weeks, entrapping him?

He appeared to be fighting an internal battle, but after a moment he shrugged. "Fuck it. I'm going to transfer anyway." He grabbed onto her forearms, leaned in close, and covered her mouth with his.
