Should she, or shouldn't she? After learning she'd been deceived by a pretend dom, Jennifer's offered a tantalizing vacation on the east coast with a respected Master in the BDSM subculture. Michael Dougherty's a man she's longed for. When opportunity knocks she agrees to the trial run as a submissive. After all, given the chance, would you dare to indulge in your wildest fantasies?

Although she has no real-time BDSM experience, Master Mic is the real deal. Bondage. Discipline. Dominance. It'll be his task to make sure things stay under control.

But is Jennifer really prepared for the initiation into the erotic world of submission Master Mic presents? Will sub frenzy get the best of her?

Michael Dougherty. Jenn read the caller ID before she answered. Mike? Mike? Oh, from the dance club she'd gone to last month with her friends. He'd asked for her number but she'd given up on him calling. "Hello?"

"Jennifer? This is Mic -- Michael. You e-mailed me a couple weeks ago and included your number. I hope you don't mind the call."

Hmm... A couple weeks ago? Toying with a lock of her hair, she puzzled over his identity. Definitely not Mike from the club.

"But what I have to tell you is best shared person-to-person," he went on.

"Oh." Considering she figured men in general preferred text to calls, this didn't sound good. She turned the television off so she could hear better.

"I'm sorry it's taken me this long to get back to you. As I mentioned in my reply it'd take some time for me to make the inquiries you wanted of the man using the screen name PopKoala, Virgil Colburn."

Virgil. Virgil? "You're speaking of Gil?"

"Virgil Colburn, yes."

Why hadn't Gil shared his proper name? She and Gil had dated online for a few months. Oh, that Michael. "Yes, yes I did e-mail you." She'd contacted a respected Master in the BDSM community to make sure Gil really was a good guy. When she hadn't heard more from Michael, she'd assumed the best about Gil.

Anyone with a lick of sense knew online dating had risks, dating in the kink community doubly so. She had plenty of common sense. She'd been careful, always on the lookout for any inconsistencies in his correspondence. Her safety was most important. No matter Gil's reassurances she wanted to be confident he was safe before she traveled to meet him face-to-face. So she'd taken the matter of Gil's honesty into her own hands. "Oh, Sir, thank you so much for getting back to me. I'd forgotten."

She settled down onto the couch. Virgil. What a name. She'd get a kick out of teasing him about it next time they spoke.

"Jennifer, I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you this but..."

The hair along her forearms stood on end. Her spine tensed. She rubbed her neck in an attempt to ease a rising tide of concern. "What is it?" What could it be? "Has something happened to Gil? A car accident?"

"No." Michael was quiet a moment. "Virgil's a troll. He's been collecting online submissives, and from what I've learned has quite the stable. He's nothing more than an online wannabe dominant. He's not active in any of the local kink clubs or communities I've checked with."

"Jeezus." PopKoala had contacted her within minutes of her joining a popular kink site. Within a week they'd exchanged names. Oh, yes, he'd singled her out. Through e-mail and instant messenger he'd wooed her into thinking... thinking she was special. Instead he'd pursued her with the intent to hurt.

She closed her eyes at the betrayal.

The cheating rat.

How could she have been so stupid? She should've known better.

No denying that Michael might be correct. After all, she'd read about online dating horror stories so she'd contacted him to be sure Gil was on the up-and-up.

"He's not in an open relationship as he'd told you. Yes, he's living with a submissive but she's engaged to him."

"Engaged?" Gil hadn't mentioned anything about a fiancee. She'd specifically asked if he was free of commitments. And at his assurances she'd slipped into a long-distance dominant/submissive relationship with him. Soon she'd woven some fanciful illusion for them. She'd been about to fly to meet him so they could spend a long weekend together. Infatuated with his online persona, she'd nearly allowed things to go too far.

"Yes. Poor girl was devastated to hear Virgil was speaking with other women."

Jenn winced. "You told her?" The poor, poor woman. Gil had cheated emotionally, and considering the things Jenn had discussed with him, he most likely cheated sexually, too. And the son-of-a-bitch had included her in his deception.

Oh! The rotten rat bastard.

She groaned. Stupid. So stupid.

"She'd been suspicious of the amount of time Virgil spent on his computer. He'd logged on more and more since they moved in together. Her complaints had been ignored." The line was silent a moment. "I thought she had a right to know. As much as you do."

Of course the woman had every right to know she was engaged to a pig bastard. The woman had far more right to know about Gil's indiscretions than Jenn did. What if I hadn't contacted Michael? Her stomach knotted. Eww... she'd have let Gil spank her. And they'd have gotten naked. Physical. Sexual.

"I didn't mention you specifically."

She nodded. To think she'd considered Gil sweet. The fantasies she'd shared with the creep. How foolish she'd been to open herself up that way.

Throat tight, she swallowed.

"Jennifer?"

"Yes?"

"Did you buy your plane ticket?"

She moaned in frustration. Only three days ago she'd run across the best deal yet. "Yes." Damn. The cancellation fee would eat the cost of the ticket up.

"You're welcome to visit me."

"Oh?" Oh, visit Michael instead? Butterflies danced in her stomach.

"I'm assuming you've already investigated me."

A smile tugged at her mouth. "Yeah. I had to find someone well-known in the kink community to investigate Gil." She knew enough about Michael. He had BDSM experience and was active in the lifestyle. People had praised his knowledge. She nodded before she second-guessed herself. "Thank you, I think I will." She had little right to be angry at Gil. He meant nothing to her. She'd leave that to his unfortunate fiancee. She'd give herself a couple days to be sad at what was never meant to be. No moping around here. She'd get on a plane to meet a well-respected dominant in the BDSM community. A real-time Master, not some guy who only played online. "Yes, Sir, Mic. I'll e-mail you my travel information."

"Excellent. I promise you the time of your life."
