Would you make a deal with the devil if it brought you true love?
Byron Saint James would and did. His angel, Mallory Sherringham, had thrown out words that Byron wasn't ready to accept. So a deal with the devil was his only choice.
Who knew the twists that Lucifer had in store for Byron. Who knew that in his search to reclaim his true love, a different angel would come into his life, an angel worthy of his soul and an eternity burning in the fiery pits of hell.
Would a happily ever after be in store for Byron and Jocelyn, his angel?
Before Byron could answer, the images around him shimmered away, leaving him back in the store house, sitting on a crate, talking to the devil. “It wasn’t real?”
“It can be. All that and more can be yours. All you have to do is to sign here and win the fair Mallory away from her suitor.”
He held the scroll out, wiggling it temptingly between his fingers.
“What will it be, Byron? A night in the store house, a beating for thinking yourself better than your betters or…you can become one of them and have everything you dream of. All you need do is get Mallory to utter three little words.”
“All she has to do is tell me she loves me?” Byron asked, remembering all the afternoons they’d hidden away, Mallory’s cousin standing lookout for them while they’d kissed and touched.
Mallory did love him, she must. This afternoon was because of her father. “I’ll sign.”
