Ethan Cavasset's greatest fear was going insane like his mother. As he entered adolesence, he experienced black-outs and siezures. He woke from an episode with blood on his lips. He instinctively ate human flesh. It turns out he had less to worry about being like his mother than his cannibal father. He's terrified.
“During your seizure,” Doctor Robinson explained, speaking very slowly to emphasize what happened, “you attacked Odetta Walker.”
“Is she all right?”
Doctor Robinson thought a moment. “She’s not all right, Ethan. You tried to bite off pieces of her face. You ripped off her nose, part of her cheeks, and some of her lips.”
I shuddered, remembering the copper of blood in my throat.
“Before you did that, you bit off two of her fingers.” She swallowed, her eyes widening. “You didn’t just bite them off, Ethan. You ate her fingers.”
