"If you really wanted to reach me," he flung the words at her, "you could've."
She bit down on her lips to control her anger. Yelling wouldn't solve anything.
"You weren't at the base and no one would tell me where you were." She
sat up and leaned toward him. "You didn't answer your phone. I left
messages on your voice mail, you never called. I left a message with
your commanding officer, and again nothing. I sent you letters, but
they were returned to me as addressee unknown." She reined in her
emotions with a deep breath. "I thought you were dead, killed in
action on some secret mission."
His face went white. "Oh God, Ava, you thought…"
Without warning, he leaned forward and pulled her onto his lap. His
hand caught her behind the head before he captured her mouth. Her lips
parted to allow him entry. His hand caressed her stomach, swollen with
"I'm so sorry. I didn't know," he breathed against her cheek before
kissing her again. She'd forgotten what a great kisser he was. Kissing
him back, she melted against him.
His arousal pressed against her hip. What had she done? In less than
fifteen minutes, he had her eating out of his hand. She needed her
wits, but they'd abandoned her. Damn. Raging hormones left her horny
all the time and the one man she wanted held her. Another kiss
wouldn't hurt. Or another.
Finally, Sean broke the kiss. "We need to talk."
"Uh-huh." She kissed him again.
