Stephanie Monroe is a makeup artist. Half of Venus & Stephanie, she and her fashion
stylist partner, Venus Gold, live and work in Los Angeles. When Venus takes off for her
hometown and does not come back when she says she will, Stephanie heads to
Mayfield to search for her wayward business partner. An important contract is at stake
and she does not want anything to mess it up. While driving there, she is stranded when
she encounters flood waters and ends up being rescued by the sexy local sheriff.
Jack Logan is the Sheriff of Mayfield, as was his father before him. He loves his town,
but many of the local citizens make him just a bit crazy. They expect him to be like his
father was, but he has different ideas and opinions. While checking out the flood
situation, he rescues a very attractive woman who makes his blood boil. Staying away
from her is not an option--he wants her very much and cannot help himself.
Stephanie and Jack are terrific characters with well-rounded personalities. The bond
that develops between them is heartwarming. The sensual tension between the two is
very visible. The love scenes are hot and steamy, with just the right amount of graphic
detail. The supporting characters are enchanting and add a lot of zip to the story.
Venus Gold is absolutely fascinating and I hope we see her in a future book. The setting
is interesting and very nicely described.
Ms. Carr is a talented writer with a knack for creating characters that feel very much like
real people. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sexy contemporary stories.
Confessions of a "Wicked" Woman is a keeper.
