My very sincere intention is to do a new post to my blog every Sunday morning. Of course, 'sincere intention' doesn't always translate to reality. http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com

I'll add a note on this thread when I have a new blog posted.

Be sure to check out my current website contest. www.samanthagentry.com (http://www.samanthagentry.com)

WEEK OF OCTOBER 5, 2014
The month of October is often dedicated to all things Halloween. Things that go bump in the night. The spooky...scary...macabre. It's also a time for new movies that fit the image as well as old movies on television dedicated to the seasonal theme. Check out my blog this week for a look at Classic Horror Movies For The Halloween Season.

It seems that all cities...certainly populous ones...have their share of haunted tales--haunted houses, haunted hotels, haunted roads, haunted restaurants, even haunted museums. For the third of my four Halloween blogs this month, I'm talking about some of America's most haunted cities. Check it out.

Superstitions are all around us on a daily basis--don't walk under a ladder, 7 years bad luck if you break a mirror. Some are specific to certain situations/professions such as telling an actor to 'break a leg' rather than wishing him 'good luck' on the night he opens in a play. And others relate to specific time frames such as the 'bad luck' day of Friday the 13th. And then there's Halloween. My blog this week is 10 Halloween Superstitions. Take a look. http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com (http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com/)

Emily Post...for decades a name synonymous with good manners and proper etiquette. She died 54 years ago. She would have been 142 years old last week. How much has proper etiquette changed since 1922 when she published her rules to cover all social occasions? Check out my blog this week for an answer to how many of her words of wisdom are still relevent. http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com (http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com/)

The word Scientist usually evokes an image of someone in a sterile environment wearing a white lab coat holding a test tube. However, there are many scientists whose labs are far removed from that pristine environment. These are the men and women who conduct their research in some of the earth's most dangerous locations (and in some cases, even beyond the boundaries of earth). Check out my blog this week for a list of 9 Dangerous Scientific Work Locations. http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com (http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com/)

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 16, 2014

We all know the often told story of how the pilgrims left England seeking religious freedom and finally settled in the New World at Plymouth in what is now the state of Massachusetts. And how in 1621 they invited the local natives to share a meal with them in order to give thanks for a successful harvest and surviving their first year. From those humble beginnings have come many facts and just as many myths about the pilgrims and our Thanksgiving holiday. Check out my blog this week for a look at some Thanksgiving myths and facts. http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com (http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com/)

With Thanksgiving comes thoughts of the pilgrims taking up residence in the new world. The pious pilgrims certainly have a reputation for being a rigid and humorless group. But there are a few surprises to be found. Check out my blog this week for a look at The Naughty Pilgrims.

WEEK OF NOVEMBER 30, 2014

It's become a regular part of the Thanksgiving holiday--Black Friday Shopping. The "unofficial" start of the Christmas season? But what started as the stores opening a couple of hours earlier on the Friday morning after Thursday Thanksgiving with a few items on sale before Christmas rather than the (until then) traditional rush of shoppers for the after-Christmas sales on December 26th has evolved into so much more. Check out my blog this week for a current look at The Infamous Black Friday Shopping Day. http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com (http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com/)

New Year's Eve has just come and gone. And synonymous with New Year's Eve is the traditional New Year's Eve party, unfortunately producing the dreaded next morning hangover for those party-goers who over-indulged in "adult beverages." Check out my blog this week for a look at hangover home remedies and whether they really work. http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com (http://samanthagentry.blogspot.com/)

What's in a name? Those of us who are writers know the importance of giving our characters the right name and how the name we choose can define that character's personality. Perhaps the same thing can be said of the name celebrities choose to use rather than their real name. Check out my blog this week for a look at some celebrities who became famous using a stage name. Would they have been as famous using their own names?

Comedy--we all like to laugh. Different people find different types of humor funny, but there's enough variety to please everyone. I recently saw an article listing what it called the "funniest comedy teams of all time" which is a very bold statement given that humor is subjective. Check out my blog this week for a look at 16 of those comedy teams, covering a wide spectrum of types of comedy.

There are several inventions that have been lost to history over the years...inventions that could have made a dramatic difference in today's society and others that would have already been made obsolete by something new.
