View Full Version : How do you like to celebrate?

Seeing as 'Partying' keeps coming up as a theme with the BB, and tomorrow is my 5th wedding anniversary (not my fifth wedding, just fifth anniversary), I thought I'd throw the question of "How do you Celebrate?" out there. It doesn't have to be anniversary related, it can be because you just sold a book to your dream publisher, or... because you matched up EVERY sock in your sock collection (an impossible task).

My husband has come up with a few ideas that brought a smile to my mouth, ideas that involve a babysitter, supper, a hotel, and I think someone mentioned the SPA! (I've never been to the spa)

Well today I finished my last final and I have the summer off. I went to the mall, got a book, and a venti latte.

That sounds like a great way to celebrate, rewarding and relaxing. Congrats by the way!

planned for my husband. He loves cherry pie, so I made a huge one. (I hate cherry pie, bleah)

We go and watch the submarine races at the river.Laugh it Up fuzball That's what we always told the kids we were doing when we'd sneak away for a couple hours. Of course, now they know that there are no submarine's in the river and even if there were, you can't watch them race because they are underwater. But, it is our excuse to go park at the water, have dinner, and the much needed alone time.

You know, I don't like cherry pie either, but that could be very sexy! :punk:

Happy anniversary!

Birthdays and anniversaries hubby takes me out to dinner at favorite restaurant. Not an author so have no release parties. Just dull boring things I suppose.

Oh, but alone time is not dull and boring. Quite the opposite...I have four kids very close in age and I live for those boring dinners and uninterrupted conversations. Although, I live on a farm, so even going to a restaurant is splurging for me. lol

You can also use the "We're going to park and watch the airplanes land." Only works if you don't live by an airport. lol My poor kids, I bet they thought hubs and I got to go do all the fun stuff while they were stuck at home. :jumprope:

Yeah, American Pie did something along those lines, but it could be very sexy... lol.

There is nothing dull and boring about going out to dinner to a favorite restaurant! We have small kids, and we don't have regular availability to sitters, so we hardly ever get to go out to a romantic dinner alone. Well, you know... to places that don't give crayons and kiddie menus :-) Now that I think about it, I'm craving candlelight and wine and :smilingsun:seafood... and calamari. :-)

Abby... what the heck is "laugh it up, fuzzball" ???

And the submarine races... that's what they always used to say when I was growing up. It was great, too, because we lived by a Navy base, and what used to be the Naval Underwater Systems Center, i.e. the submarine base. So all growing up, I thought the submarine races were *real*!! LOL!!

Recently I've been getting nothing accomplished but writing and I guess we can all blame that on...well, writing.

So, whether it's just requests for work, my very first contract (which I just experienced), or good feedback from crit partners I treat myself to new book, Cold Stone Creamery, a frappe, or me and hubby go out to dinner and drinks.

Usually I just dive back into my writing.

When I was a little girl we used to park right where the planes would almost touch the top of the car landing at LAX, but I think it may have a new meaning. I actually vote for a two hour bath with added bubbles as needed followed by some time alone with the dh. But if there's no time....anything overwhelmingly chocolate will do.
