Do you put dedications in your books? If so, to whom?

Ever have someone ask you to dedicate a book to them? Or get upset because you haven't dedicated one to them yet? :realmad:

I usually dedicate my books to special people in my life. One friend who answered one pretty simple research question for me asked if I planned to mention him in my dedication. I thought about it and decided against it. Um, no. Never had anyone ask me to dedicate a book to them, thankfully.

I've never been haven't been asked by someone to dedicate a book to him/her. That's such a personal thing. That would be like asking someone if you could be the godparent of her child! Is this person someone you know really well? Is this person someone who helped you? You could always mention him/her in the acknowledgements.

I write erotic romance. I do have a friend who has read/edited two of my manuscripts and asked me NOT to use her name!

If a person has been an inspiration for a book, that's who I dedicate it to. Or someone in my immediate family. But, yes, I've had people see the name of someone they know mentioned, and asked when I was going to dedicate a book to them too. *roll eyes*
