Hi all,

Okay, so I did this backwards . I started posting in the forums, THEN noticed the introduce myself section. Ah well, I'm a mom. I swear, the second those kids were born, they took a few of my brain cells with them. Maybe more than just a few. ;) .

I'm Shirley Jump, author or 18 romantic comedies for Harlequin and Kensington. My 18th is on shelves now, books 19, 20 and 21 all come out at Christmas. I spend my days either writing or shopping (both very smart moves to avoid housework and feeding anyone. All the humans in this house have learned to forage for themselves).

Let's see, what else can I say? I wrote a recipe-filled food series for Kensington (The Bride Wore Chocolate (http://www.shirleyjump.com/resource/item-433f87d9-6df2-48b8-bd93-a82b805490b9.aspx), The Bachelor Preferred Pastry (http://www.shirleyjump.com/resource/resource_view.aspx?UID=0c38e8cc-b78d-4346-9004-03421ae88ae0), etc.) becuase if there's one thing I like as much as shoe shopping, it's eating (and eating out!). I write for Harlequin Romance (Married by Morning (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&EAN=9780373039524&itm=1) is the book that's out now) and Harlequin Next.

I'm going to the RWA conference in Dallas and if you don't find me at Neiman-Marcus, you will find me at the lit signing or holding a margarita ;) . And when I'm not working, I'm surfing the net (see the above reasoning...avoid housework and feeding the family at all costs. If you vacuum for them once, they expect it again). Pictures, excerpts, behind the book stories, all that stuff is at my website (http://www.shirleyjump.com); while recipes from my real life (okay, I lied, I do actually cook but try not to do it so often that my family gets trained to EXPECT it on a regular basis. Got to keep them on their toes) are on my blog (http://www.shirleyjump.blogspot.com).

That's it! This looks like a really fun, energetic site and I'm thrilled to be here!

Nice to meet you, Shirley. Quite the backlist you have there! I'm going to have to check out your recipe series--I'm a reader/writer/baker/eater, too :)

Hi and welcome Shirley!!

I go by Illyria here but my name is Anya.

I am paranormal erotic whore, whose current obsessions are Keri Arthur's vampire Quinn and Orlando Bloom. :roflmao:

I am addicted to being online and chatting. Love to read books that have a little bit of everything. My favorites are sarcastic and strong females who put their men in their place,

And on my spare time I love to review books and interview authors. :tt2:

Thanks for the welcome! I love heroines like that, too! They can be hard to write, but oh so fun when you get one like that (I've done a few and had great fun with them!).

FYI, I just got an author forum here, too. If anyone wants to stop by and visit so I'm not totally lonely :-)

I love your reasoning on the not cleaning or vacuuming ... if you do they expect it ... haha.. at least I can have 2 young college age roommates that are a little OCD and love to clean but can be compulsive at times I say HAVE AT IT you want to clean here go ahead ..I am not stopping you but I do keep the kitchen and stuff neat and will wash dishes that is a must to just be decent here but the rest .. they can ..

Glad to meet you and yes now to check out all your work .. the recipe type books look like they might have been fun to do ...

Wow, someone who appreciates the almighty Neiman Marcus as much as I do! So nice to meet you ~ I always say that whenever I decide to stop teaching middle school, my second career is going to be selling shoes or bags at Neiman's.

LOL, Lainey. I need a couple of those OCD people here! Unfortunately everyone in my family is about the same as me on the housework issue. I have not trained them well enough yet. Sigh.

But my daughter got in trouble this week so she is going to owe me some housework for a while. This mommy is smart and uses housework for punishment. A win-win for Mom ;-).

Oh, oh!!! Let me be right next to you!! I would so want that job, too. I used to work at Filene's and LOVED THE DISCOUNT. There are days when I (seriously) contemplate going back there (or to Macy's, since we don't have a Filene's where I live) JUST TO GET THAT DISCOUNT.

Oh, what a sad person I am. :-) I literally walk through the shoe department and salivate. I can't even WEAR them all and I want to take them all home, like puppies. My daughter thinks I'm hilarious. I have three new pairs for RWA. The conference is only 5 days long, LOL.

Welcome Shirley! Your books look like really good reads. I'll have to check them out. And may I say that your addiction to shoes sounds like it can rival MaryJanice Davidson's addiction. LOL

Thanks for the welcome! And LOL -- I have friends who get together with me and all we end up doing is comparing shoes :-) Maybe we should be smart and get together in a shoe department instead of coffee shops!

That might be a good idea Shirley, but at the coffee shops you can get great coffee and treats and have a great conversation to boot.

If they'd just add a shoe department to Starbuck's, I'd be all set ;-)
