A movie or tv show of the Riley books would be so cool am I right or am I the only one who thinks so?:dots: Not that they ever would or maybe, up to Keri since its her baby. But I just wondered who do you think could play the characters from the book? I mean it would be hard to picture anyone as hot as Quinn could be.:leph: Like to know what you all think. Hit me up.

Dang girl. Now you're really gonna make me think. It'd be cool to see a movie come out. The first person that came to mind to play Quinn was Gerard Butler. He's already a hot, hot, hottie. Just make his hair a little darker and put in contact lenses and it's all good baby! I think if we could beef up Orlando Bloom he might do for Quinn as well, but Gerard is my first choice. Kate Beckinsale or Sandra Bullock as Riley. I like Kate better because she's already played these kinds of parts. I'll have to think a little longer about Rhoan, Liander, Kade, Misha, Talon and the others. Let me get back to you on that.

Orlando Bloom is always a good choice.

As for the rest..i am going to have to think about this for a while.:errrr:

Oh Irish I so totally there with you on the Gerard guy I mean he is finer then fine. He would make a really good Quinn. And Kate now I didn't think of her but you know thats a good point. Orlando Bloom I don't know. Maybe. Oh David Bowie would make a funny Gautier don't you think. Hehehe! Oh Karl Urban from the Doom, LOTR movies can play Kellen I mean he is a hottie.

Dani
June 27th, 2007, 12:47 PM
Dang girlie, I do believe that we have the same taste in men! Karl Urban is one hot Aussie! He'd do for Kellen, but what about Hugh Jackman? Now that's another extremely hot Aussie! He could play the part of Kellen too or even Quinn for that matter! Bavid Bowie would be good at playing Guatier. He does the evil part well. I have to say that I've loved him since I was a kid. My fave movie with him in it is Labyrinth. Kade could be played by Vin Diesel or The Rock. :tt1: I'm still having problems with Rhoan and Liander's characters though. They're going to be tough for me, but I'll figure it out. Hahaha!

I would suggest that Angelina Jolie would be a perfect Riley- that is who I envision anyway as I read the books. I can not think of any other actress that could do Riley justice. If you have seen her in “Taking Lives” & “Gia” you realize that her talent of emoting pure sex and/or lust in erotic scenes is second to none. BTW in case you are wondering I am of the male persuasion and have no guilt in enjoying Ms Arthur’s books but it also explains why I am indifferent as to who would be the best actors to portray the male characters. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
As to transforming the books either into movies or TV (for TV it would have to be HBO or Showtime obviously) it would require a very skilful director. To be able to film the sex scenes so as to advance the plot as opposed to providing gratuitous sex (as is the case with the novels) and yet showing enough graphic detail to establish the point of the scenes without lapsing into mere pornography requires utmost talent. “<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:Street><st1:address>Mulholland Drive</st1:address></st1:Street>” contains probably the steamiest erotic sex scenes ever in a mainstream movie and so I imagine its director David Lynch would be ideal for this task.<o:p></o:p>

Not that they ever would or maybe, up to Keri since its her baby.

I'd love for them to make movies out of the series--although with the amount of sex in the books, they'd have to be careful. Although they could take most of the sex out and still be left with a good action story

as for an actress to play Riley--I always imagined her to be the angelina jolie type (in her lara croft phase). Without the enhanced lips and with red hair :)

As for the men...Gerard Butler's not bad, but the accent is all wrong (scottish rather than irish.) Orlando is lovely (esp in the third pirates movie) but maybe a little youngish. I actually saw a poster one day for an after shave that had this dark haired guy sitting half in shadow, and thought, man, that's my vampire. Then I saw the actor on the TV show Las Vegas and thought maybe not. But he has very nice brown eyes and he looked great in that poster...

Dang girlie, I do believe that we have the same taste in men! Karl Urban is one hot Aussie!

actually, he's one hot New Zealander (they get very upset by us aussie's claiming one of their own as our own)
 But yeah, he'd make a great kellen

Kade could be played by Vin Diesel or The Rock. :tt1:

I'd rather the Rock than Vin Diesel. The Rock has a great sense of humour (and is very nicely built)

I agree, she can do sultry like no other. And the Lara Croft movies proved she can do action and humor as well.

I do apologize for calling him an Aussie...I actually forgot that he's a native New Zelander.

As far as Angelina Jolie, she'd be good, but she's getting too thin these days, so that's the reason why I wasn't thinking about her. Basically she's loosing her curves. If she was back to her Lara Croft size or even just a tad heavier that would be perfect. Even in the Tomb Raider movies she said that they enhanced her, ah, assets a bit. As she said once, she a C cup, Lara is a double D and they ended up meeting in the middle. She would definately have to regain her curves to play the part though.

Welcome tkutsaar, it's always nice to have a man's perspective in here, so post away (and you might want to pray that our hormone driven posts don't drive you insane...LOL).

we aussies don't care if you call him one of us--it's the nz's who tend to get fiesty. lol.

and yeah, angelina is way too skinny these days. (what is it with hollywood and thinness? It's so not attractive). She'd have to go back to her lara croft curves. Without lara croft's bust (riley is a c-cup, same as angelina is. Or was)

Dani
June 27th, 2007, 07:20 PM
Yeah, these women in Hollywood are getting too think these days. They look sick if you ask me. I'd rather see someone like Kate Winslet or Jennifer Hudson rather than all those skinny minis out there. The super thin set a bad example (for the youth of today) of what beauty is. Give me the Marilyn Monroe look anyday. Some one said this the other day on another author's boards:

I'm sorry, but I really I feel it is time to stand together, and vote Rubenesque, back in, because once they do, I will be a goddess.
I have to agree with her. I'd certainly be a goddess too! Not that I have anything against thin women, but there is a point when it's just too thin. To all of you ladies out there that are thin, please don't get mad and jump me for saying this, but I'm stating a fact.

Welcome tkutsaar hey I didn't know you were a dude nice to have a guy here among us. Nice to meet you. And yes you and Keri are so right about angelins being good for the role but as you said her in Lara Croft.:notworthy: She was hot in that movie that if I swung that way she would be it. And so if he's either he is hot anyway. The Rock playing Kade I have no idea I see I don't know someone more graceful then him but who I have no idea. Hugh Jackman nice looking guy in Van Hellsing he was good take that one over wolverine guy.

Oh Irish you have seen the Labyrinth as well not to sound like a little girl but I loved that movie when I was younger had a huge crush on him as the goblin king. But as Liander I saw Rupert Everett.

:arghhhh: I really didn't think you all would think of this as much as I did.

Dani
June 27th, 2007, 10:47 PM
Rupert Everett would be great as Liander. How about Heath ledger for Rhoan? He could look good with reddish color hair.

I was 11 (6 months shy of 12) when Labyrinth came out and I had a major crush on David Bowie. I knew who he was because of his music, but I had never seen him in a movie until this one. He was good looking to me then, but he got better looking with age, IMO.

Keri, if Vin Diesel isn't your choice for Kade, would you consider him for Jin instead? I think he could pull it off.

Davidsgirl, I take this very seriously because if they were to make a movie or TV show out of Keri's books then I want to be able to contact the casting department with a list of people I'd like to see play these parts. In fact on Charlaine Harris' boards there's a thread for who we think would be the best choice to play the characters of the show True Blood (HBO series based on the Sookie series). If it could happen for Charlaine's books, it could happen with Keri's books too!

I would try, but I'd probably get no where fast. It would be very nice if they'd listen to me though (or any fan for that matter). On Charlaine's boards it just a fantasy list of who we'd like to see play the characters.

good idea.

is there something in his room that's unsettling him? I know Kasey went through a stage where she was waking up all the time, but she settled down once we put a little night light in her room. We think she was waking and getting scared of the dark more than waking from nightmares. She grew out of it after a year, but it did help a lot at the time.

Dani
July 17th, 2007, 09:47 PM
He watch a movie about zombies with my mom Saturday and that's what made him have the nightmares (just so you know, he's 11). He does have a nightlight in his room and the bathroom, so he can see. He just doesn't want to be alone. I'm sure he'll be fine in a few days.

Funny thing is he was watching vampire movies and a movie about these half alien half human kids and none of them scared him, but the zombies did. I can't say that I blame him though. I don't watch zombie movies nor Friday the 13th movies because they scare the daylights out of me. I'm pretty good with the others though and so is he.

I said before and I quote:

"Kate Beckinsale or Sandra Bullock as Riley. I like Kate better because she's already played these kinds of parts."
So I totally agree with you on that CharmedGirl. However this is what Keri had to say about it:

as for an actress to play Riley--I always imagined her to be the angelina jolie type (in her lara croft phase). Without the enhanced lips and with red hair :)

I think she would be a good choice for Riley also. If you go to the first page of this thread you can see all of our choices (if you haven't already...LOL).

CharmedGirl
July 29th, 2007, 10:15 PM
David Boreanaz has already played a vampire in both Angel and Buffy, so he would be a perfect choice.

Kate Beckinsale definitely because of her Underworld Character and maybe Hugh Jackman as Rhoan.

I would not have a clue for Jack, Kellen or Gautier. :notworthy:

Melbourne would be the perfect location. It has such a buzzing atmosphere day and night. Then you have the sight of Luna Park from the third book (Tempting Evil)...which would be absolutely perfect at night.

It's like with The Bourne Ultimatum with Matt Damon. They go around the world filming in different countries and it gives the movie that little extra. :euro:

My son even had his sayings down and every time he caught a snake or something he'd say "You're alright mate," just like Steve would. It was sooo cute (BTW, he was just 6 yrs old when he'd do that). A movie about Riley would be great!!! It could even be made into a short tv seires! And Kate Beckinsale would be kick ass! She would play the part the best since she played Selene in the Underworld movies! And theye would have to get Gerard! He would be a great Quinn! Or even a Kellen. :)

Dani
August 7th, 2007, 12:32 AM
On this I will disagree, Gerard just can't play Kellen. He's not that kind of jerk (at least I don't see him that way). He can play Quinn anytime though. ;)

cowzrule318
August 7th, 2007, 03:10 AM
Okay I love the idea of a movie, as everyone knows it would be rated "R" because it would be graphic and would contain many sex parts! Man that would be the greatest thing EVER!

But two things I disagree with for people acting...
1) Orlando Bloon should NOT be Quinn. Dont get me wrong I like the guy but really he does not seem like a Quinn to me...
2) For me it would be a definate "NO" on Sandra Bullock playing Riley! I mean she would be horrible as Riley, I don't think anyone could make her look like a were-wolf, let alone act like one!

Dani
August 7th, 2007, 02:29 PM
Welcome to CTR Cowzrule! Glad to have you here. Please post as often as you like.

I was thinking Orlando because he's got the height, hair color and gracefulness (not to mention that he has shown he can fight) to play Quinn, but he was not my first choice. Besides I was appeasing a few of the ladies here that are Orlando fans.

Sandra Bullock has more range in her acting than you may realize and she just might be able to pull it off (not that she was my first choice either), but I was thinking more about her looking like Riley.

You never know what someone can do until you put them in the situation. I mean, by just looking at Kate Beckinsale, without knowing any movie she's played in or what she's played, would you think that she could play a werewolf, just by her looks alone? Probably not, but someone thought she could and gave her the chance. The same should be done for any actor or actress.

I like Keri's idea of Angelina Jolie playing Riley. LOL! I wasn't even thinking about her when I decided to put up who I liked.

CharmedGirl
August 7th, 2007, 07:16 PM
Have you ever seen the Underworld movies where Kate Beckinsale plays the lead actress (however in these movies she played a vampire). Riley's character is half vampire, half werewolf so I'm sure she would be able to play a werewolf as well.

Kate Beckinsale could definitely pull off Riley's redhead status as well.

Dani
August 7th, 2007, 08:03 PM
Have I seen those movies...Of course I've seen them! In fact I own both and watch them regularly! I also have Van Helsing where she plays a vamp hunter. LMAO!!! That's one of the reasons that I mentioned her name first in my original post on this thread (post #2 I do believe).

What I wrote what I did in my post before yours was just an example about her being able to play the part of a werewolf. I know she played a vamp, but someone had to look at her and say, 'Can she pull this role off? can she make it believable?'. This is the point I was trying to make about it, but more so about Sandra Bullock playing the part. She's (like I said before) not my first choice for Riley, but she's got features that I see (in my head) for Riley's looks, so there for I mentioned her second in my original post.

I'm I confusing anyone now?

Oh, I think it will be rated R or NC-17. They can't take out all the sex, maybe some of it, but not all of it.

Movies are never as good as books, anyway they did some of the book fans would be disappointed because we all have our own image of what the character is like. If they used an actress that was way different from the character you had pictured it would just p you off.

Dani
August 11th, 2007, 12:44 AM
That is so true Nessy! I totally agree, usually books are much better, but I have seen some that were great as movies though.

If they were to get Keri's info on who she'd like to see play the parts and could possibly get them we just might be pleasently suprised.

NessyPerth
August 11th, 2007, 08:03 AM
Well you never know. Jennifer Garner could be a possibility for Riley, but i do agree kate beckensal would be good. I love Sandra Bullock but just cant picture her in that kind of role but you never know. Angelina Jolie? perhaps a little too perfect looking

DavidsGirl841444
August 11th, 2007, 10:52 AM
With Nessy Sandra no Kate yeah, Angelina is a bit to perfect but thats good. And yeah Eragon is a good example of it the book way better then the movie in my opinion.

what about Colin Farrell for playing Quinn he cleans up very well and he is Irish after all. But i must say i do love Karl Urban ....

Dani
August 11th, 2007, 01:33 PM
Keri is the one who said that Angelina Jolie was who she pictured playing Rliey (in her Lara Croft days). I hadn't thought about Jennifer Garner. She'd be good too.

Colin Firth, hmmmm, well I like him, but just not as Quinn. My favorite movie with him in it is Valmont. Talk about steamy!

Karl Urban, all I have to say is yummm. I see him more in the ranks of Kellen though. He's just got that Kellen attitude about him, but it works well.

Karenne
August 11th, 2007, 04:57 PM
I can see Angelina Jolie. I love Jennifer Gardner, but she just doesn't have that ....edge that I imagine for Riley. Whereas Angelina does (in my opinion) have it..it is in her walk and in her eyes.

I see Riley's eyes as wise and seeing to much and knowing to much but not enough. Make sense?

Dani

Oops! I was reading too fast for my own good. It was a matter of getting ready to leave and answering on the fly (so to speak). Besides the fact that my brain moves faster than my eyes somedays. Meaning that I saw the F and thought Firth (also because I just watched a movie with him in it).

Colin Farrell is a different story. He's hot, but I get more of a wolf vibe from him.

NessyPerth
August 11th, 2007, 11:50 PM
yeah he could definately play a wolf but i think he is a very versatile actor. He is soo super hot in some movies and then he can be so weird and super creepy in others (such as bullseye in daredevil). Then he has this drop dead gorgeous smile that melts your heart (as seen in american outlaws when he plays jessie james) . mmmmmm

I wouldn't ever want to write the script--that's a specialist job and I'd never do it justice. Though it would be nice to have final approval, like jk rowling did (and you have to be jk rowling to get that!)

now, selecting the actors would be fun....:hellobaby:

and yeah, SMG wouldn't do a bad job as riley...at least we know she's tough enough.

Dani
August 13th, 2007, 06:52 PM
I bet you would be able to do that too Keri. You don't have to be JK Rowling to be a special author!

If you get to pick the actors, can I help? I'd be good at it. LOL

KeriArthur
August 13th, 2007, 07:04 PM
actually, you do have to be jk rowling to get that sort of power. Most authors have no say in the script or what happens to the story when the rights are sold. Look at what happened to all the clive cussler movies (and he's a bigger author than I am)

KeriArthur
August 13th, 2007, 07:05 PM
as for helping me pick the actors (if I ever got the chance), you'll have to join the queue! My crit buddies, sister and bestest friend have already formed a line for that!

Dani
August 13th, 2007, 07:10 PM

I agree, 50 isn't old at all.

I had a discussion in a class I took and there were many different age groups in the class, from late teens to early 20's, mid 20's to early 30's and late 30's to mid 40's. We found that the younger ladies thought that 55-60 was starting to be in the old catagory. Us in the 2nd age group and the ladies in the last age group pretty much agreed that around 75 was a starting age for the old catagory.

I look at it this way, you're only as old as you feel. You could be in your 90's and still feel like your in your 20's. Or you could be the opposite. It's all up to you.

KeriArthur
August 18th, 2007, 06:20 PM
exactly. These people who tell you to act your age should be slapped silly. You feel how you act--and if you act old, then you'll feel old.

you learn these things by being a nosey mom. And my daughter is 17 :)

I don't even watch American Idol anymore. It's gotten to be a big joke with the way the judges are. I still like Simon though, he's still a tough one. Paula's a joke and Randy's just in the middle.

CharmedGirl

I meant the singing is better than the Australian Idol. I think some of the things Simon says are hilarious and then other times it's like do we want to know that man.

Dani
August 21st, 2007, 01:26 AM
Well, I've never seen Aussie Idol, so I can't compair the two. I wish I could though. I'd love to see how the other Idols are.

Our equivalent of Simon is Dicko. That is his nickname!

KeriArthur
August 21st, 2007, 01:33 AM
I love dicko. He's actually appearing on american TV this year, as a judge in one of the talent shows (can't remember which)

and I think there's good and bad singers in both shows.

Dani
August 21st, 2007, 01:39 AM
Is it called America's Got Talent by any chance? That had Piers (don't know his last name...he's a Brit though), David Hasselhoff and Sharon Osbourne on it last year and the first year it was the same two guys and Brandy as the third judge.

DavidsGirl841444

Yeah that show is cute. And American Idol can't help but watch there is some really good talent that comes out of there. Come on Kelly was great. And I love Daughtery.

Dani my bro is actually dating someone right now, so sorry. :(
About the virgin thing I agree with Dani if you are over the age 18 in any religion and say you are a virgin I would have to be curious.
Although my cousin waited until she got married and I believe she was 24, when I found that out I was like what the hell are you thinking but that was her choice and I'm glad she did that!

American Idol I stopped watching a while ago It just got old I wish I could watch the Aussie Idol that would be cool.

Believe me you can wait for a while trying to find the right on, but say you do and it turns out that one was a bad choice or you just don't want to be the weird girl cause you still the V in the gang. Plus it would be very awkward to have to V's doing it. But to each their own right?

August 24th, 2007, 12:10 AM
they would have to do the books justice though....it would take a great director and an even better cast to pull that off. if they did get everything right though it would be an awsome movie

August 24th, 2007, 12:11 AM
That of course is a must.... not like the harry potter movies that dont do the books justice

I read them, but I know people who haven't and haven't watch the movies either. It takes all kinds to make the world go round. That's a good thing. We each read what interests us. It's not a bad thing if all three of you have never read Harry Potter. And it's not a bad thing if you've never watch the movies either.

;)

Yep Trisha, you are correct on everything you've said.

My son liked the movies, so I had to see what the movies (and the books) were like to see if they would be suitable for him to watch (and read, not that he can sit long enough...LOL). I like them, but I've always liked books with a magical theme. It's what got me to like other types of books as well.

Hit me up.

I would love to see a movie made. Now you have me thinking what actors would be good to play the characters. I am going to think on this question and then get back to you.
Keri, if your reading this, who would you choose to play your characters?
(I have to add on a side line - I think it is so cool that authors like yourself read your fans thoughts and ideas, then actually answer questions.)

We haven't really locked in any of the lead characters though...it's sort of race betwen who is going to play Riley between four different women.

Then we have to decide on the male characters and that isn't going to be an easy task.
