So, after having to fix my laptop and restore everything, I'm on time (orrather slightly late) today for my workshop. I do apologize for the delay but here I am! In a few short minutes after I put the announcment out that I'm here, I'll be setting things up for you for the month of August with the hopes that this seminar will be helpful for all of you when it comes to creating powerful, male characters.

So introduce yourselves and tell me what you think your strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to writing from the male POV!

I'm here because you told me about this class and thank goodness for that! Always looking to make my heroes a little badder and a little better.

As a male, I'm here out of curiosity. If I notice anything I disagree with, I'll let you know.

What I'm interested in is how to write from the female POV. My book, The Gender Divide, has 2 main protagonists, one male and one female. There is also a secondary protagonist, also female. The POV shifts a lot between the 3 of them and I hope I've managed to capture both POV's - male and female - accurately and, more importantly, believably. The book is interesting from a female POV since the premise is a world where women live four times longer than men do.

I've also written another novel that I need to edit which is told almost solely from the female POV.

So I'll be 'listening' carefully and would also welcome any tips anyone would care to share.

In my writing my dialogue is my weakness I think. So if I can learn how a man thinks or get a general idea. It could only help. Glad to be here

I'm here because I like learning new ways to make my characters more whole. I don't tend to go for the typical male characters, but I've got some ideas some pieces that i'll be writing soon that need that strong male hero, I'm hoping this class will help me create them. I'm also here to get to know everyone and to enjoy myself :)

Hi Sascha! Nice to 'see' you.
I've written three books in first person male pov. For some reason I find it pretty easy. Perhaps because I was a male in my first life according to a psychic I once visited. Hmm...

SO, does anyone call this subgenre "dick-lit" as I heard discussed a few years ago?

Ashlyn,

Nice to see you too :) Sure, "dick lit" works as a term lol! Some folks have a hard time with cross gender writing while others master it well for various reasons. I've posted two lessons, so far.

Cheers and again, welcome :)

Hey Sas,

Sorry to drop in so late, but life and edits have been conspiring to make me even more crazy.

Why am I here? Curiousity mostly. I write from both male and female POV, it depends on the piece. I've usually felt pretty comfortable with the male POV, but I guess, I just want to get as much info as I can.

Off to see what you've got to teach me. (Now there's a loaded line if I've ever seen one... LOL)

Six? How did I miss so many? If I hadn't been notified of Jude's post, I'd have thought it ended last week. Hmmm... Stupid yahoo pixies.

I'll go back and see what I missed.
