I was just wondering how you decided on your pen names? I mean it is a name that stays with you and is very important. So I am sure it takes alot of thought. I am in the process of trying to find mine. Tell me about the process you went through to decide on yours.

Mine is Taryn Raye. Taryn was an alteration of Tarin. I loved the sound of it but thought it would be much more pretty with a Y. Raye is actually my real middle name.

I also have an alternate to use if I ever need another pen name and that is a combo of my daughter and step-son's names. Dakota Christopher.

Then there's always the name of your first pet and first street you lived on. Mine would've been Macaroni Glensboro. Not quite sure how well "Mac" could sell books though! LOL Or I suppose you could do a combination of any pet and any street. (the 2nd place I lived- Buster Merriweather, 3rd place I lived, Munchkin Whitney. LOL)

It is a tough decision to make and you're right, you do really have to think about whether you will still feel comfortable using it throughout your life.

My process was to go through lists of baby names online as well as holding on to a part of myself.

Hope you find one that fits you perfectly!

I don't have a pen name.

My writing is my work and I want credit for it. ;)

Also I don't have a job so I don't need to worry about problems there if it's discovered what I write. And my family knows what I write and are cool with it.

I did lose one friend because of my writing, but that's her problem.

Jenna is just my real first name shortened. Leigh is my grandmother's middle name. She loved to read romances, and I get that from her. When I got published, I thought to myself, what says romance? And it was the memory of her holding a book in her hands. I like that memory, it keeps her close to me.

My real last name is long and I write it about a hundred times a day. Eh on that. And this keeps me from connecting my writing with the evil day job in any way shape or form. I am Jenna Leigh when I write, not the slave to da man.

Jenna Leigh is free to use her imagination. Does that sound creepy and multiple personality disorderly? I don't care! I'm Freeeeee!

I don't exactly have a pen name. I took inspiration from EE Cummings and used my first two initials together with my actual last name. Not very creative, I suppose, but my writing is very "realist" and using a fake name doesn't seem to mesh with that.

Well, way back on my first book Sea Lover at Phaze, I had no idea so asked the then publisher Stacey if she had any ideas. She suggested a few, of which Fallon was a christian name. I liked the ring of it as a surname and Anna just flowed nice with it. So Anna Fallon was born.

My brother once asked me why I was Anna Fallon and not Freddy Bigcockz. I simple said because Anna Fallon writes erotic romance and Freddy Bigcocks writes porn LOL. He said fair enough.

Good question tho I was probably no help

Anna, I think your coffee has an additive in it--possibly alcoholic? :shifty: Any left?

LOL, karenne and know what's good for us. That's how we get all the good topics up, a little extra 'milk' in our coffee.

Karenne! I had no idea you were such a linebacker! I prefer the sidelines where I can watch all the "tight ends". :wazzapp: Nothing like a little goosing the guys while intoxicated.

*sets cup down and backs away*

I used a combination of my own name and my mother's name. I do have a day job that I can't let be connected to my writing. Someday when that big advance comes in though, I say take this job and ... give me whatever the rest of you are having in your coffee

I don't have a pen name. Christie Silvers is my real married name. I've actually had people compliment me on my "Pen Name" and I had to inform them that it was my real name. LOL. One guy didn't believe me. It was very funny.

I was just wondering how you decided on your pen names?

Well, I wanted a name that would always be among the top of any list, which meant a name that begins with A. Looked through a mythology book and came up with Ambrosia.

I actually use my maiden name. I write technical non-fiction as well as fiction and I wasn't too worried about people knowing the person was the same. I mostly wanted the two vastly different genres to show up on the same Amazon search. :)
