View Full Version : Rainy day

Rainy days it seems to me just make me think of you
When skies are gray and overcast and there’s little else to do.
I walk the paths of memory’s lanes
Through streets and alleys of dreams
To see you’re there and through it all
With you, with love that gleams.

To hear the rain, that pitter-pat, upon the window pane
Makes me long to hear your voice whisper love again.
It takes me back to happy climes
With love so fresh and sweet
And opens my heart to early days
And the treasured times we meet

To hear the voice of the clouds that cry, scurrying above
Reminds me of the other days I worried about our love
Could we survive the fears I had
And make our living whole?
Yet through it all your smile and hope
Brought us clear onto our goal

So comfort now within the folds of a dreary rainy day
Here with love I cannot think in any other way.
For you and I have found our joy
And never to resign
The love we share is always there
What’s mine, is yours, is mine.

You write some of the best poetry I've every read. This only person that's better, in my opinion, is my mom!

Really? Cool, I'd love to see some of her stuff. Good poets are really hard to find nowadays.

She hasn't written in years, but I can ask if she'll let me look at her poetry again and if she doesn't mind if I post it.

That would be cool.

She used to be real picky about her poetry, so we'll see what she says. It might not be as good to anyone else, but she's my mom, so I'm biased.

Trust me, some of the stuff they're taeching poets to write nowadays is, bluntly, trash.

Somewhere over the last ten years Poets have been told not to give their poetry emotion because it's considered immature and unsightly with poetic critics.

All of these poems I've posted have all been torn apart by "modern" poets.

I think I'll like your mom's a lot.

Gee...I just posted about getting her poetry on another thread, but oh well. I still have it now and will get it typed up and posted soon.

LOL the threads are getting mixed up. Whichever they get posted I'll be looking forward to reading them.
