If you had a chance to go to the Moon or Mars would you take it, or wouldn't you?

And what's the reason behind your answer?

(Piact Pack goody bags will be awarded to the folks with the most interesting answers.)

:roflmao: yeah that incentive will work.

Yeah i'd go to the moon for sure, but i'd want to do and see everything i plan to do here on earth first. Just incase i dont come back.

My last 'out there' adventure was sky diving, base jumping next, if i survive that ..........blast me off to the moon, what a rush ;)

Dani

Maybe some of us just haven't gotten to see the thread yet boys! LOL

I'd take the trip. I'd rather like to see what's going on in space. I think it would be cool to be out there, not to mention the part about being weightless.

We've basically screwed up a lot here on earth and if it doesn't stop we'll have to look for a new suitable place for the population (that might still be living then) to live that is compatable to our needs.

I'd go to the moon before I'd go to Mars. It's been hot enough here in Kentucky without being a planet that's actually closer to the sun! LOL I would mostly just like to see Earth from the moon. I've seen it in pictures, but I'm sure the view would be even more spectacular and mind boggling from up there on our shiny little Luna.

(as for the sex...yeah...it would be a bit more interesting without gravity...hmm.)

NessyPerth
September 26th, 2007, 10:29 PM

It woud be fun to see more of the solar system/universe but how much are we prepared to sacrifice to see it. Like the scientists keep telling us, we'll go visiting other stars and all our family will have gone by the time we get back.

Am I prepared to do that...?

Well in my case since there's only my brother and my wife left, if I could take my wife with me no problem, but leaving her behind and knowing it'll be the last time I saw her would probably be too hard.

Shame that all the best things have consequences.

I would go to the moon. I love all the photos/videos of the space exploration there. Maybe I'd set up a readers cafe there. Wonder if you'd be able to get the internet there? I'm a BBW and I think I'll weigh considerably less in Space!!!!!!!! I have heard a lot of scientific theories about Mars and I don't think I'd want to go there. First nobody has gotten the kinks out of space travel down. Next, from all the Mars probe photos, not a lot happening there. Last, it's HOT. I do not like hot weather. I'd be afraid I'd melt.

Definatley! If I could return safely to my husband and children :) Upon landing on Mars, I would pull my blaster from my hip and be on the look out for the cat-like people in C.J. Cherryh's Cucko's Egg, my favourite sci-fi book. Not that they'd make it to our solar system, or even that I'd shoot them, but they were very unfriendly to the human ship that misfortune thrust into their galaxy.

October 12th, 2007, 12:37 AM
Nope. Here's the one that I told you that I posted in one of Keri's threads.

Oh, I've had one where I was in an old house with a pool in the middle. It was filled with black water, piranhas (and other kinds of aquatic life), and decaying (almost skeletal) people and all around the pool area were the same type of people (kinda like zombies) in all kinds of clothing from old fashioned dresses and tuxes to newer clothes. I was always running from someone in the dream, I would come to a locked gate and be backed against it and it would be Jason (from the Friday the 13th movies) that had been chasing me. I somehow got past him and escaped and I would wake up.

Weird huh? I oughta try to copywrite it and use it in a story. :roflmao:

Hi Bec, Glad to have you back.

I missed quite a bit too, spent most of yesterday trying to get my myspace working grr, that just confuses me, truly.

Anyway hopefully will be able to chat on here some today, then I've got to get some writing done for the newsletter (working some more on the Terras IV story) and some final bits for the paranormal round robin. Will Roger Ing survive his interview with the evil wizard? And who was that lady who jumped him in the middle of the hotel foyer...

Hmmm.

Must try to get into some of Keri's threads some day.

*sighs* so much to do and so little time to do it.

Does your son like sports or hobbies or anything. My stepson learnt to read because he was into baseball. He refused to read books but give him a baseball magazine and he'd read every word... even going to the dictionary if he didn't understand something.

Some folks think it's not reading, but he grew up knowing enough to get into college. :)

I would DEFINITELY take the chance to go to mars or the moon! I think it would be an awesome, once in a lifetime experience!

LesaDragon
November 17th, 2007, 09:05 PM
:dots:
Evening SJ.

I'm headed back to NaNoWriMo, but wanted to buzz buy and at least say Hello. I haven't had a chance to read many of the answers, but would love the chance to participate.

To answer your question: I think I'd start with the moon. First off it's a shorter trip, no suspended animation required. I think it would be fun to play a round of golf in the sea of tranquility, so long as the moon resport provided moon carts to chase down the ball. I'm thinking that would be the only way I'd ever have a chance at longest drive in the company tournament. Of course, with the limited gravity, it might be a good idea to play with pong pong or whiffle balls, lest the darn thing be miles a way in the wrong direction.

Mars would be fun too, but the trip is longer, and I think even though there appears to be less atmosphere the dry climate might be good for folks with breathing problems. *shrug* I think it would place to visit but you'd have to know it was a one way kinda trip. I'm not really sure what I think of the gravity on the Big Red Planet, though. Is it more or less than here or how does it compare to the moon.

I think it would be very interesting to figure out what zero gravity would do to intamacy and all that goes with it. Just a thought.

Toodles for now, I shall return again when I have more time to read.

I see you're participating in the NaNoWriMo, does that mean you're an author too? I just know that a lot of the authors that I've been reading are participating in it and I wasn't sure if it was only open to authors or if anyone could do it.

Thank you very much for the warm Welcome, looks like a lovely place to hang out.

I see you're participating in the NaNoWriMo, does that mean you're an author too? I just know that a lot of the authors that I've been reading are participating in it and I wasn't sure if it was only open to authors or if anyone could do it.

:GEEK: ALERT!
November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNaWriMo), and I would say I aspire to be an author as I've not yet completed a manuscript.

The goal of NaNoWriMo is to write 50,000 words between November 1st and November 30th. It's open to anyone willing to take the challenge. The record keeping is based on the honor system and the prize for winning is the satisfaction of a job well done (that is no real prizes or money changes hands!) along with 75-100% of a completed manuscript.

Several groups around the country organize write-ins at local book stores, coffee shops and/or cafes. These gatherings are to inspire, coach and share the NaNo experience, but also to focus on writing. We work in writing sprints, a timed writing period of 10, 15 or 20 minutes, where everyone writes as much as they can in the period. At the end of each sprint, we compare words as a bit of local challenge, but the end goal and main focus is to put those 50,000 words down before the end of the month.

At the end of the month, I will have a nearly complete manuscript, though it will be at the very roughest of rough draft stages, but one cannot edit a blank page.

For me, this challenge has helped double (thus far) my word count on the current Work in Progress (WiP) and I know that I would NOT have been that focused had I not been working towards winning NaNo.

I'm very sure that's more information than you wanted to know, but the last time I explained it, many other questions came up, so... I just put it all down this time.

Thank you again for the very kind welcome, I look forward to returning more often when I am able.

Thanks for answering me Lesa. I kinda knew what the basic outline of the NaNoWriMo from hearing other authors write about it, but wasn't sure who could participate.

One of the authors that I follow penned one of his best books participating in this, so anything's possible. Good luck to you!

Evening SJ.

I'm headed back to NaNoWriMo, but wanted to buzz buy and at least say Hello. I haven't had a chance to read many of the answers, but would love the chance to participate.

Hey Lesa!

Glad to have you here.

Apologies for not responding sooner but several bad cases of hospitilitis mingled with moving housicusses took me out of the loop for a while. But hey just for participating in this thread I'm going to send you a nice little PIACT pack.

Okay..... Hmm, one problem, It won't fit into the cable line no matter how much I try to squish it down.

Hey, I've got an idea. can you private message me your snail mail addy and I'll see if I can post it to ya. I think that might be a bit easier at least you might get it in one peice...

:roflmao:
