We are all writers of paranormal, magic and fantasy but have a considerable range between us all.

Today I have a post up on Gift of the Holly King with an excerpt but you should bookmark the blog and take a look - lots of fun subjects pop up!

I have this blog bookmarked already Maura! I enjoy reading it when I can.

Didn't you say that the Gift of the Holly King is going to be in the Babes in Toyland II anthology? Guess I should go read the blog today to see what you wrote huh? LOL!

Definitely - and you should let me know what you think, too!

I'm actually reading it now and I like it so far!

Do you write about Wiccans because it's what you know or because it's popular in the paranormal books these days. I hope I didn't just offend you by asking that, but I was curious.

In this case I wrote about a Wiccan because it suits the story. Modern wicca celebrates Yule and the Oak King vs the Holly King ritual battles.

I'm a practicing wiccan high priestess, an elder in my tradition, though more shamanic in daily practice. This does give me a huge richness of ritual knowledge and magical systems to use in my stories. But not all my stories are wiccan or even wiccan-based.

I'm not a huge person for writing to trends, so I tend to stay with writing what I love - which is paranormal and fantasy based romances.

Glad you're liking it so far!

That's cool Maura. I just remembered reading that you are a Wiccan and I know that some people will write about what they know and love.

I finished it and can't wait to get to read the whole thing.
