Elena tries to fight her desires, but the connection with Nicolas is too strong. After Lucian’s attack, she hadn’t been able to give herself freely to a man, except in the event of seeking food. But Nicolas efforts change that, showing her the good in place of all the bad.

But Lucian lurks around the corner, haunting Elena both physically and mentally. And it’s up to Nicolas to stop him before he tries anything. Taking her to his family’s safe house, he recruits his brother to help him protect Elena. Will Elena be able to face her fears and overcome the troubles inflicted in her past? Or will Lucian’s hold over her prevent her from her one true love?
THE BODYGUARD is filled with fast-paced action, a wonderful cast of characters and a plot that that kept me enthralled from start to finish. I applaud Nicolas’s character and his determination in helping Elena overcome her fears, no matter what it took. I also applaud Elena’s strength and how she never gave up. THE BODYGUARD is a heartfelt story that will dwell in your memory long after you read the last word. A job well done, Ms. Hasker. I highly recommend this book.

A year ago vampire Elena was taken by Lucian and tortured and raped repeatedly. Since then she has been protected day and night from the evil vampire. During the day she is protected by Nicolas, a man who she thinks is human and therefore safe, but who has secrets of his own. Nicolas has fought his attraction for Elena but when she dresses up to leave the house and go hunting he cannot hold back anymore. He knows Elena thinks he is unaware she is a vampire but he has always known and if she is going to feed, it will be from him. When Lucian breaks the outer defenses guarding Elena, Nicolas takes her to a safe house where he and his twin brother will work hard to replace her bad memories with pleasure.
You are going to need to change your panties after reading The Bodyguard by Michelle Hasker. This is a sensual tale filled with tenderness and passion. I enjoyed every second of reading The Bodyguard. Nicolas treats Elena with such compassion and he desires her so much, it is a joy to read. Elena is battling her memories of the brutality she suffered and Michelle Hasker handles the subject of her rapes with sensitivity and a refreshing frankness. I felt that Elena is a strong woman who just needs time to get past the rapes and Nicolas is the perfect man to help. There is an incredibly hot menage scene that just floored me. The Bodyguard is a story not to be missed.

Bella from Fallen Angel Reviews gave The Bodyguard 4 Angels
After Elena Fortescu has been brutalized at the hands of Lucian, a vicious vampire, her brother Sorian sends Nicolas Dupree to protect her, until Lucian’s caught and killed.
The attraction between Elena and Nicolas is palpable, but Elena won’t allow her attraction to Nicolas to blossom because she’s got a secret. While Nicolas is human, she’s a vampire and she won’t turn him, even though it takes every ounce of her strength not to do so. What she doesn’t know is that Nicolas is also hiding a part of his true self. Regardless, he doesn’t care that she’s a vampire. He’s in love with her and will do anything to make Elena his.
The Bodyguard was a very satisfying read. The chemistry between Elena and Nicolas was realistic. I was drawn into their sexual tension almost immediately. Nicolas’ pure Alpha male personality had me fanning myself, eager to read more. Feisty Elena had me laughing aloud as she tried to manipulate Nicolas into getting her own way. They were a well-matched couple.
Michelle Hasker did a great job of dropping little tidbits to the reader, piquing interest as to the real identity of Nicolas. While he’s not vampire, he’s certainly not an ordinary human either.
Combine the romance of Elena and Nicolas with the suspenseful sub-plot of the loathsome villain, Lucian, and you’ve got a recipe for a great diversion or bedtime story. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Hasker will come up with next.

Elena is a vampire who has experienced the worst – kidnapping, degradation, multiple rapes. She’s free, but her tormenter, Lucian, is after her again, and her brother, Sorin, has hired round the clock bodyguards for her. Adrian and Nicholas rotate shifts, but Nicholas is the one who guards her the closest, and while she respects Nicholas, she is afraid to tell him she is vampire, not knowing how he will react since he is simply a human. When they realize their security has been breached, Sorin tells Nicholas to take Elena somewhere else until Lucian can be captured. Nicholas enlists the help of his brother, Nash, and Elena soon realizes there is more to Nicholas that she thought, and he is more than capable of keeping her safe in all ways.
This is my first Hasker book, and I must say I was really impressed with her writing style. The dialogue flows smoothly and was full of sensuality that was followed up with some red hot sex. Elena’s fear and insecurity was easily understood and Nicholas was able to express his feelings without loosing any of his alpha characteristics. It was comical how Nicholas let his feelings be known with his brother Nash in the picture. Which brings up the point of whether or not we will get to read a story about Nash? The Bodyguard does feature references of past violence towards Elena as well as anal sex and a ménage scene, both of which were written as a healing point in the story.

Racine from eCataromance Sensual gave Bodyguard 4 stars.
Elena had been kidnapped and violated by another vampire so her brother hired bodyguards to protect her till they could destroy her attacker. Her bodyguard, Nicholas, has fallen in love with her and doesn't care that she is a vampire. He has secrets of his own he's not telling.
The Bodyguard is an enjoyable read. I liked the characters especially Elena who is tough yet venerable at the same time. She realizes she is in love with Nicholas but afraid she will hurt him because she is a vampire. Nicholas goes all out to banish the nightmares she has after being violated. The Bodyguard is a very tender love story that should not be missed.

“Are you serious?” Elena Fortescu stared at her bodyguard.
“Dead.” Nicolas Dupree stood his ground.
At six foot six and a wall of solid muscle, he couldn’t be used to having people stand up to him, but she wasn’t afraid of him. It had been a long year. A long, long, loooong year. One where she’d been cooped up in this house. All because of Lucian.
So Nicolas guarded her during the day and her cousin Adrian watched her at night. Since he was human, she’d assumed Nicolas would be easier to manipulate, but Adrian was the one who couldn’t stop her from doing anything. And Nicolas was the one who had her respect. She spent the days either sleeping or with Nicolas. She’d grown to know him very well, and he probably thought he knew her well, but he would be wrong. If he knew what she was he’d tremble in his black boots.
Instead, his brilliant blue eyes met hers in a challenge she couldn’t let pass. Ever since she’d healed physically, she’d been itching for a fight. Preferably with Lucian. That bastard was the reason Sorin had hired her bodyguards, and the reason for her sleepless days and nights. She wanted blood. It didn’t even matter whose blood it was at this point. And Nicolas’s called to her like a siren’s song.
“You don’t know what you’re saying. You have no right to make me stay inside,” Elena snapped, and turned to walk past him.
“The hell I don’t, princess. You’re not setting one foot outside those doors tonight.” He crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes as he stepped in front of her.
“You don’t scare me, Nicolas. Now move out of my way.” She reached out to push him away, but he wedged himself in the doorframe and wouldn’t budge. “If I have to hurt you to get outside, I will.”
Nicolas snorted and shook his head. “Not a chance, honey.”
“Don’t honey me, you big baboon. I’m a grown woman. I’m older than you! I can go out for a drink if I want.”
“Not dressed like that.”
Elena looked down. She had on a short black dress that covered the essentials. A silver chain accentuated her small waist, and black boots came up to her thighs. Her outfit was actually conservative compared to most others she’d seen lately. When you have the body of the eternally young, why not flaunt it? “What’s wrong with the way I look?”
“Nothing, if you want to get propositioned by every man in the bar.”
Nicolas stared pointedly at her breasts. “That is cut so low I can see your nipples.”
“In your dreams, honey,” she mocked, tossing the endearment back at him.
“You wouldn’t want to know about my dreams,” he purred and then licked his lips.
“All right.” Elena immediately switched into fighting mode. “Let’s see you take me, big guy.”
