I'm curious. I enjoy historical romances and was wondering what about them other readers enjoy. What is it about a historical that makes you pick it up instead of picking up another genre?

For me, I prefer that there be more history than romance. I love to be drawn into the period by the authors words.

i enjoy reading the history. the grand balls. the way the dress.
how they talk.the historical romance writters seem to have a way to make
it all so romantic.with the way they write the life style of a duke or earl.

I love history so I love reading historical romances. It's a fun way to expereince a time period without all the harsh reality. Also, since I read a lot of historical non-fiction, I enjoy the lighter reading of historicals.

:) I love the overall setting, usually if I read historical I choose one with Lords and lady's. I fins on thw whole they are so much more romantic then todays romancce where everyone is sleeping with everyone else or living with, to me it seems that it much more soul mate like.
