I saw another thread with this title and I thought it was a good idea.

So here's what I'm working on.

What I call 'a quick piece of smut'. A friend asked me to write a story for her. So I came up with a scenario and am now writing it down.

I'm sure she'll love it.

I'm thinking of throwing together an anthology entitled 'Quick Pieces of Smut'. I'll throw a bunch of my loose stories into it and see if I can interest a publisher in it. ;)

I love it...a quick piece of smut! You should have called your thread that....you would have them popping in here by the thousands!Laugh it Up fuzball

I never thought of that!

Although I wonder if 'quick piece of smut' is a good description. I figure it will end up above 10,000 words in length. I'm a little over 3,000 word into it and so far all the characters have done is tease each other.

Coming up, a shopping trip at a sex boutique. The main characters nee some 'equipment'.

And I believe I'll get yet another story out of this one. I've written a couple of minor characters into the tale. I think I'll write their story next. ;)

Hello Rob, how is the writing coming along? You probably have three books already about to be released now

I'm afraid not, Linda.

I've been struggling with personal quandaries, and lack of sleep, that's keeping my writing at a slow pace.

Still writing though. :)

Here's what I'm currently up to.

Not much. ::)

I've got an e-book to edit and the job is like pulling teeth.

Also my landlord has announced they're going to throw out all the books I have stored in the basement. They've gone and changed the rules on me. :flamingmad: That's taken a lot of wind out of my sails.

So I'm not exactly churning out the words.

I did managed to finish another short piece of smut though. :)

i'd offer storage for you but i think it's abit far for you to bring them to me :lightsaber:

Current state of affairs.

I finished editing that e-book. I'm quite pleased with it, my editor helped a lot.

Now I'm working on a story I promised a friend. A romance I'm calling Sheena From Tallahasse. It's kind of slow going. I haven't written a 'straight' romance in so long I'm more than a bit rusty.

Still, I'm pleased with myself.

Time for an update.

Sigh. This has been a bad year for writing. And a lot of other stuff as well.

Still, I am managing to get some writing done. I recently finished a rather tasty story I called Bound In Roses (http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=382982).

I'm also about 4,000 words into my first novel. The title is tentatively Among The Stacks. It's a m/f/f menage romance. The tricky part is all the characters fall in love separately. Each doesn't know the other characters are involved until late in the story.

Going to be tricky.

That's all. Carry on.

Time for another update.

I've gotten really caught up in a new project. An untitled historical vampire romance set in late 1780's Europe. This is taking me into new territory in a couple of ways.

First, I'm co-authoring with another Aspen Mountain Press author, Celina Summers (http://shootthemuse.bravehost.com/). She asked me to work with her and I was very flattered as she's a superb writer. Brainstorming with her is a lot of fun. I'm writing the hero's parts and she's writing the heroine's.

Second, I've never done a historical before so I'm learning a lot about the time period.

Third, my character is an alpha male. Something I've never really done before. Ritter Gunther von Wittersheim was a Saxon cavalry officer before he was a vampire. Over six feet and two hundred pounds he cuts a dashing figure.

I like Celina's character. Lady Marguerite Giffard is a widow at twenty. Intelligent and strong, she has to hide these things behind the social roles of Georgian London.

I'm really enjoying writing this. We've managed over 30,000 words in two weeks. I'm hoping we get a novel out of it.

Wow, that's sounds intriguing. 30,000 wordsin two weeks is awesome speed. Keep us updating on it when you get the chance.

Thanks Christie. :)

I did another 3,000 words over the past couple of days, dealing with a major crisis in the story.

Best thing so far is that when I turned in the first time Gunther made love to Marguerite, her jaw dropped. 5,000 words. ;)

That was nice because Celina's a real writing machine and it's tough to keep up with her. Nice to know I can challenge her as much as she challenges me.

As far as "quick pieces of smut" goes, I'm wondering how quick do people want their quickies. Nothing like a little anticipation with 3,000 words of foreplay :-)
Personally, I love the little quickies in the different volumes of "Secrets."

rgraham666
November 2nd, 2008, 09:41 AM
My 'quick pieces' range from 2,000 to 12,000 words. It depends on how intricate the scenario is. For example my latest is entitled Bound In Roses because that is what the narrator (it's first person) does to the heroine. It's not quite 12,000 words.

Update on my latest. We're 65,000 words into it. Since we're both pantsters the story has gone places we haven't expected. And we've decided it's going to be the first book of a trilogy.

The title of the first book is going to be Breaking The Covenants. It's called that as the vampires in the world we've created live by a set of covenants, with severe consequences for those vampires that break them. The covenants provide the main drive for the books.

This project is a lot of fun. :)

Sounds like a great trilogy. Love vamp stories. As for the quickies, I think you have to write whatever is necessary to build the emotional intensity. Otherwise, it's just a 'slam bam, thank you m'aam."

I agree, Julie. I always work to make sure that the feelings between the characters are there.

Wow! That's just fantastic! Congrats Rob. Is it coming to an end, or do you see it much longer?

rgraham666
November 22nd, 2008, 10:34 PM
Thanks Christie.

We've one major crisis to resolve. It's a really complex scene with literally dozens of characters. Politics and justice in the world of vampires we've built.

Then setting up for the next book.

I figure about another 10 to 15,000 words.

Past the 105,000 word mark. :)
