OK, since I'm sending off my contract for this one today, I thought maybe it's time to get the ball rolling. I will also be posting more in the Background thread in the coming weeks that will fill you in on this book's background.

So, check back. I hope that I will have a blurb for you soon. (New rules - I can't post it until it has been approved.)

Thanks for the info Denise.

The official blurb is up on the Coming Soon page, but you don't have to go find it. I'm going to post it right here. Enjoy!

Book 2 in the Gypsy Legacy Series

He doesnít need a wife. She doesnít want a husband. Destinyís not listening.

As children, Brand Waring, heir to the Duke of Warringham, and his brother were kidnapped and sold to a plantation in the West Indies. Now Brand is back to wreak vengeance on those responsible for his brotherís subsequent death. The last thing he wants, or needs, is to be distracted by an instant attraction to a flighty Society belle.
Felicia Collings has found it easy to refuse every marriage proposal, thanks to a ring left to her by her gypsy great-grandmother. Reportedly it will lead her to the man whom she is destined to marry. To her relief, the ring has been blessedly silent on this issue. Until Brand recognizes it, and sparks fly.
In spite of himself, Brand finds himself drawn to the beauty, and to the wounded soul reflected in her eyes. At his gentle hands, Felicia begins to learn what it means to be cherished and loved.
Then the past rears its head to threaten their fragile happiness. As Brand begins to doubt whether vengeance is as sweet as a lifetime with Felicia, he finds himself racing to save them both from not one cold-blooded killeróbut two.

The blurb sounds great Denise! I can't wait to hear more about it.

Bouncy Icon Smilie IT'S DONE!! The final edits are done and turned in on Felicia and Brand's story. It seems like it has taken FOREVER to get here. So, a celebration is definitely in order.

I'm still waiting on a cover, but I'm still celebrating. I can go to RWA next week without worrying about edits.

In the meantime, I think I need to go add some more to the background stuff and, as soon as I get the ok, I'll post an excerpt.

Release date: August 26!!!!

Two and a half weeks away. . .it's time for an excerpt! How about a wedding night tease?
Leaving the dining room, Brand sensed the amiable mood from dinner fade and he could think of no way to retrieve it without further postponing the inevitable. Felicia’s fingers trembled on his arm as they walked toward the stairs, but she did not pull them away when he covered them with his own. Reaching the foot of the staircase, he stopped and turned toward her. The eyes she raised to his were luminous in the dim light of the entry hall, yet he could read the trepidation she tried to hide.
“I suggest it is time to retire. Would you like me to escort you up, or would you like some time to prepare?”
She nibbled her bottom lip. “I would…I would…like some time, if you…don’t mind.”
He stepped back. “Very well. I will join you shortly.”
Felicia inclined her head in acknowledgment, then turned to ascend the stairs. Brand watched her until she disappeared, then turned and went back into the parlor. Pouring himself a drink from the sideboard, he settled into a chair to contain his impatience.

Felicia managed to maintain her calm exterior while Lily helped her out of her gown and into a thin silk nightgown laced up the front and tied with a bow. Taking down her hair, she waved Lily away when she approached with a brush. She knew Lily mistook her nervousness for impatience when Felicia ushered her from the room as soon as the dress had been safely hung in the dressing room. She might have thought it amusing if she hadn’t been on the verge of panic. Brushing her own hip-length tresses often helped to calm her when she was out of sorts, but tonight the exercise did nothing for her and she dropped the brush on her dressing table in frustration.
She should have told him. She shouldn’t have let it get this far. But now she had, what should she do?
Instinct told her to hide, but common sense asked her where. She didn’t know the house. She didn’t even know where they were. Besides, she had never been a coward. Hiding was not an option.
She wished she could fall into bed and go to sleep, but she knew that was impossible the moment she thought of it. Brand would just awaken her anyway. It was their wedding night. She knew what he expected; the role she was expected to play.
So, what now? Could she do it? Could she lie impassively and allow Brand to exercise his husbandly rights? Mira had told her there was pain and blood the first time, but the pain was negligible and the blood minimal.
Felicia paced to the window and stood at the casement, staring at her reflection, trying not to see the scenes flashing before her eyes. She had saved Davey, but at what price? Goose bumps rose on her arms and crossing her arms beneath her breasts, she rubbed her hands up and down her arms to dispel the chill.
Turning, she crossed to the fireplace and held icy hands out to the blaze. She didn’t know when she began to shiver. Eventually she collapsed into a chair in front of the fire, arms wrapped around knees drawn up tight against her chest, staring with unseeing eyes into the depths of the flames.

So, what do you think?

Today is release day at Samhain and Brand and Felicia's story is part of the batch.

I'm soooo excited about this particular book because Felicia is probably my favorite heroine. You know how they always say you hurt those you love, well, I tortured poor Felicia throughout this book. But it was fun to watch her grow and mature.

I'll be back and post another excerpt soon.

Purchase your copy here (https://www.mybookstoreandmore.com/shop/product.da/gypsy-legacy-the-duke).

This one is just before the wedding. Felicia is still angry because she's being "forced" to marry Brand.

Filling her plate from the array of dishes on the sideboard, she took a seat and waited for Brand to join her.
"So, tell me about this wedding." Brand tucked into his heaping plate.
Felicia shrugged, a piece of toast dripping with honey in her hand. "I don't know anything other than it's supposed to take place in, what is it, three days, at eleven o'clock in the morning. Amanda has been appointed as my bridesmaid, and luncheon will be served immediately after." She took a bite of her toast and chewed thoughtfully. "Oh, and Jon is giving me away, I suppose."
"I see. Anything else?"
"If you want to know anything else, I'm afraid you'll have to ask Jon's grandmother, the duchess or Geri. They have done all the planning."
"And you? What have you done?"
"Stayed out of their way."
Edward entered the room, saving her from having to explain.
"Good morning." Her smile was warm. She noticed he was also dressed for riding. "Have you been out? I'm surprised I didn't see you." "No, not yet. I think all the men, except perhaps Papa, are riding out with your brother to view some improvements he is making to the north end of the estate." He finished filling his plate and sat across from Brand and Felicia at the table.
"I see." She was unconvinced. "I think it's called escaping."
Brand chuckled beside her and she felt warmed by the sound. Edward looked up at her.
"You might be right," he agreed. "No reason to hang around and listen to wedding plans."
"Brand tells me you received your commission. Allow me to extend my congratulations and wish you Godspeed on your upcoming journey."
Edward's ears turned an endearing shade of red, something which happened when he was embarrassed.
"Thank you," he mumbled around a mouthful of eggs.
"So, what are you going to be doing? Do you know?"
"Not at the moment," he answered. "For the time being, I'm being posted as an aide to the Governor in Bombay, but hopefully once I'm there, something else will come up."
"It sounds exciting. Be sure to write often."
Brand, who had remained quiet during this exchange, found himself unaccountably annoyed over her easy camaraderie with his brother. Why, he wasn't sure. Hadn't she told him she viewed Edward as a brother? Yet he still wondered if she might not have eventually accepted Edward as a husband if he hadn't arrived.
He joined the conversation. "I didn't ask before, but when do you leave?"
"In a week," Edward replied. "I'm afraid I'm here only long enough to dance at your wedding, then I have to head out. I plan to stop to see an old friend along the way, then I am to report to Lord Helmsley as soon as I arrive back in London."
"Oh." This from Felicia.
"Sorry to be popping out and leaving you to clean up the mess," he said to Brand, "but I'm sure you'll handle things better than I would have. I do, however, hope you find your answers."
Brand sobered, then replied, "So do I."
Jon entered the room on the heels of Brand's comment. Immediately behind Jon, Amanda entered. Brand smothered a grin as Jon was forced into being the host, seating Amanda beside Edward, and then asking whether he could fill a plate for her.
Edward and Brand greeted both Jon and Amanda, then Amanda turned to Felicia. "You were out riding this morning?"
"Of course," Felicia answered. "If you'll recall, I invited you to join me."
"Perhaps tomorrow," Amanda replied. "I was up late going through my wardrobe with Eliza. We have narrowed the choices to three."
Felicia smiled, and said nothing, but Edward asked the question everyone else was thinking.
"Three what?"
"Dresses," Amanda answered. "I'm to be Felicia's bridesmaid, but the countess said the dress had to be light blue. So, Eliza and I went through everything I brought with me to see if there was anything suitable. Thankfully a majority of my wardrobe is in blue and green, so I have any number of possibilities."
Felicia finished her breakfast and excused herself. Brand rose with her and escorted her out of the room.
"Are you going out with everyone else this morning?" she asked as they climbed the main staircase.
"Yes," he responded, "And you?"
"I'll walk Davey into the village for his lesson with the vicar." Brand stopped as they reached the second floor and turned to her. Realizing he had stopped, Felicia turned to look at him.
"You are truly not involved with the planning of your own wedding?" he asked incredulously. "No, I'm not," she replied a little defensively. "If Jon's grandmother hadn't arrived, there wouldn't have been any planning at all."
She shrugged. Brand was beginning to hate that gesture, so often did she employ it. "I have accepted I have no choice in this. I have agreed not to fight any longer and agreed not to embarrass you or Jon in front of your family. I have agreed I will try to make the best of this and accept my destiny or fate, or whatever you want to call it. I have even agreed to wear the ring. But, I draw the line at planning something I did not want in the first place."

 WooHoo! Congratulations! I had to say it again here even though I said it in the promo thread.

Please tell me you really didn't kill Brand. :( I know you won't and you'll tell me to read the book, but I had to give it the old college try. LOL!

August 26th, 2008, 11:52 PM
Of course I didn't kill Brand,:swoon: but that's all I'm going to say except you'll have to read the book to find out what really happened. :whistilin:

Oh thank you! I didn't think you would, but that arrogant jerk seemed to make me wonder, but that's what he's supposed to do.

And it's from our own Hollie here at Coffee Time.
5 cups!! (http://www.coffeetimeromance.com/BookReviews/Gypsylegacytheduke.html) And no chocolate changed hands.

In part, she said, "This is wonderful story...Brand has a lot of shadows and nightmares in his past. These lead him to be a strong and determined man giving his all to the woman he grows to love and the life that has become his. Felicia has her own nightmares and is a far from being the perfect young lady. This makes her all the more loveable, and it is impossible not to respect the woman she matures into."

Thank you, Hollie. I'm so glad you liked Brand and Felicia.

It's sitting on my editor's computer awaiting judgment. Of course, she just left for a two week vacation, so I don't expect to hear back very soon. *sigh* I can be patient. . .I can be patient. . .This is my new mantra - in this business it has to be!

Gee, it's been ages since I was last out here. Got to get out here more often. This weekend I was in Wyoming watching my daughter perform with her drumming group. It was a whirlwind weekend (they did four shows in one day), but it was fun.

Anyway, I came back to a new review of The Duke that I wanted to share.

From Ecataromance (http://www.ecataromance.com/?p=629), 4.5 stars. In part, Susiq2 said: This is a fascinating story, rich with the history of the period, full of adventure, kidnapping, true love, and a mystery that will keep the reader glued to the pages as the story unfolds. This is the perfect curl up on the sofa, or your favorite chair, and read by the fire or sun by the pool book It is a Keeper!

So, she made my day! But, my editor could easily make my month. . .or more, if she got back to me on The Earl. *grin*

November 4th, 2008, 08:09 PM
Congrats on another great review! :huepfen017:

I hope you hear back on The Earl soon!

April 24th, 2009, 11:26 AM
:omg_2: I've been sitting on my hands since I found out about this review three days ago, but now I can let it out.

4 1/2 stars from RT. I'm floored!!:swoon:
And, these wonderful words: Patrick's second entry in her Gypsy Legacy series is delightful. Her consummate storytelling runs the gamut with gripping plotlines, nonstop action and multifaceted characters. There's a wonderful love story and a conspiracy guaranteed to keep readers on their toes.

I need to buy that woman some chocolate!:thewave:

April 24th, 2009, 06:46 PM
WooHoo!! Congratulations on another fantastic review and coming from RT Magazine that's big. I understand they don't give a lot of reviews over three stars, so that's awesome.

April 25th, 2009, 12:12 AM
Actually, Dani, they give more 4's than you might think, but the 4 1/2's are very scarce. In the most recent magazine (I got mine today), there are 30 Historical Romance reviews and only 8 4 1/2's. The majority of them are 4's. Both The Marquis and The Importance of Almack's got 4's, so I'm just tickled pink to get that 4 1/2 - and to see what great company I'm in.
