Welcome to the Promotions Workshop.

Grab your favorite beverage, scoot up your chair to your monitor and let's chat about online and offline promoting.

Let's start by introducing yourselves.

My name is Vicki M. Taylor. I write Women's Fiction. I live in Tampa, FL, don't work outside the home, have 3 grown children, 2 grandchildren and 2 very spoiled pets, one dog and one parrot. Oh, and a husband too. :-) I guess you see where he falls in the list of priorities. At least that's what he says.

We'll be having some lecture, some interaction, some homework, and hopefully some fun. I can't wait to meet the rest of you!

Hi Vicki.

I'm Rob Graham. I'm an author with works out from Phaze and Aspen Mountain Press.

I've been doing this author thing for a little over a year now. I'm always looking for ways to promote. Especially if they're really cheap. ;)

June 1st, 2008, 05:32 PM
Hi Vicki!

I appreciate you giving us your time to help us out. Thank you!

I'm Bekki Lynn. I write contemporary romance and more for Siren Publishing. Currently, I have A Psychic Hitch availible and Last Glass of Wine out July 17. These are the first two in the series. If there are any special ways of promoting a series, I'm all ears.

I'm a midwesterner with an amazing family and petting zoo. We have two dogs, two cats, three house bunnies and about 40 pigeons we raise for dog training.

Hi Vicki!

My name is Morgan Ashbury, and I write romance for BookStrand, and erotic romance for Siren.

I also author a weekly essay, Wednesday's Words.

I'm blessed to be able to write full time, after having worked for more than twenty years in the field of accounting.

I'm a mother of 3, a granny of 8 and my husband and I will be celebrating anniversary # 36 in July.

I'm looking forward to this seminar, because I need all the help I can get!

Hi Everyone!

I'm Bronwyn Storm, and I write contemporary romantic comedy.

I live in Edmonton, Alberta with my husband, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 girls (though the girls have homes of their own, and my hubby & I just rent this house from the furry ones. :P).

I'm really looking forward to promotional tips--I find it MUNDO intimidating and confusing...lol, it's a special kind of torture, don't you think? Like, if I was so great with schmoozing, promoting, "pressing flesh" and generally interacting with loads of strangers, I probably wouldn't spend my days locked in an office with little human contact, would I?

I'm a full time writer and volunteer with (what I call) Alphabet Kids (ADD, ADHD, BDD, OPPS) re: literacy & math.

Hi Vicki,
I just learned about the workshop from Jami Davenport. My first book, The Twist (romantic suspense), is going to be released by Siren BookStrand in just over a month, so I am all ears!

We have one son, grown and out of the house. Can't seem to get rid of the gray parrot or the husband :shifty: We live in Viginia and I enjoy reading and relaxing in Ocean City, MD.

:welcome2: Vicki. I'm looking forward to any help on promotions.

I'm a Licensed Massage Therapist on hiatus to work on writing (nearly 3 years now) and have books available through Phaze and Loose-Id. I have a set of 11 year old twin boys who I'm venturing into home schooling next school year :err: . Not to mention two stepsons who are married and have already given me three beautiful granddaughters.
I write erotic romance in a variety of genres and having 2 books released this month and been a little lack in promo. *sigh* Enough babble :)

Also, I help moderate a marketing yahoo group for writers and have informed them about this seminar.smilies/cloud9.gif

I’m Jenny Penn, a new author with three books coming out from Siren (cross your fingers, maybe a fourth too). Jami D. was kind enough to tell me about your promo workshop and (given my helplessly lost status on this subject) I hopped on over here to learn the tricks of the trade.

I haven't heard about that one. Will have to check it out also. Our is MarketingForRomanceWriters. Don't let the name fool you. It's not just for romance writers. We have some mystery writers, non-fiction writers, erotic writers. Just a nice little group where we share tips, ideas, articles, classes, and discussions. It's on Yahoo.

Raina James
June 4th, 2008, 03:46 AM
Hey all,

I write contemporary romance as Raina James. My first book, Serena's Song, was released with Siren on April 7. I am SO looking forward to this workshop, because I really feel like I'm stumbling around in the dark as far as promotions go. So, Vicki -- and everyone, really -- thanks in advance for all the tips and kicks in the butt. :D

As for a bit more of a bio on me, I've been a journalist at a daily Canadian newspaper for almost 20 years, most of those as an editor. I have four kids aged six to 13, an Australian shepherd and two sweetiepie Chihuahuas.

I have always loved writing, but never really pursued it in any serious way until I joined an online writers group (hey Morgan, Ian and A.J.!). It's my wonderful experience with them that makes me confident this opportunity will be just as rewarding.

Hi,Vicki, et al...I know a bunch of you so it's like being home...yeah! My name is Minnette Meador. I write in many genres, and not all of them romance. My first and second novels were epic fantasies, I write historical, erotic paranormal comedy, suspense, humourous personal essays, and have a children's book coming out next year. Can anyone say multiple personalities? When my brain is not occupied with writing, I teach remedial reading, writing, and math to 1st thru 5th graders. I am a mother/step mother of six and have two genius grandchildren, one slightly used husband, and a four pound poodle named Pierre who runs the show. What little is left is mine...nice to meet everyone!

June 9th, 2008, 11:35 AM
Hi Vicki!

I hope you don't mind me being tardy to class - I only just found out about this seminar, and I'm always ready to try and improve my promo.

Hi :D

I'm Alex Draven, librarian by day, story teller by night. I write mostly m/m queer erotic romance, and at the moment I've got one story out with Torquere Press, with two more due out later this year.

Right - I'm off to the tag-lines thread to play catch up.

Welcome, Alex... don't worry about being late, we're here all month.

June 11th, 2008, 06:46 PM
Hi Vicki,

I'm tardy too! I kept forgetting about this one, mainly because I'm doing a temp assignment. Normally, I'm a full-time writer, but finances have behooved me to do a few forays out into the world again. LOL

I have five books out, and my latest Destiny's Choices a Native American romantic suspense is with Amira Press.

I can use all the help I can get when it comes to promoting so I'm really looking forward to this class!
