Can you list other ways you've found to promote your books?

How about Reviews?

Let’s talk about reviews.

Reviews can make or break your book. You must have reviews. They “validate” your book. Someone has read it.

Whether the review is good or bad, that’s another story. Some books have sold very well, based on bad reviews. People are drawn to read it because of the bad reviews. Same with movies.

But, no reviews are worse than bad reviews. No reviews mean no one read your book, or they did and they didn’t feel drawn to comment about it. Did you ever notice how popular banned books are?

The best reviews you can get are from your Advance reading copies. Then you can put those reviews on your cover.

Check to see if your publisher sends out advanced reading copies. If they do, get the list and follow up with the reviewers.

See if your publisher can provide you with a list of reviewers. Or, research the Internet for book reviewers and make a list of those who might be interested in reading your book.

You can’t shake a stick without hitting a reviewer nowadays on the Internet. Just go to a search engine like Google and type in Book Reviewer and see what you come up with.

There's several review sites there I haven't got on my list. Thanks.

I've a separate book mark page for review sites. Makes it easy to find them again.

For my erotica, my reviews have been good. For my best piece, in my opinion, they've been mixed. The reviewers either love it or find it disturbing. One found it 'politically incorrect.' I'm rather pleased with that. It means I got under their skin. ;)

I have links to all of them on my website. My readers ought to have an idea of what they're getting into.

That's good, putting your reviews on your website. Any time you get a new one, put it up there. It keeps your site fresh, and it gives the reader additional information about your books.

Oh, the review list I gave is my no means inclusive, I'm sure we all have sites we've found to review our books that aren't on the list. If you'd like, you can share them with the group, by listing them here.
