I feel bad, coz I noticed a bunch of people checked out the thread and there's nothing here. ...We had a discussion going on Disney World/land in one of the other threads, so I opened this one.

You will find it hard to find anyone a bigger Disney theme park geek than me, so this thread is for anyone wanting to share stories, trips --past, present and future-- (I went last Spetember and am going again in December), ask questions...whatever. My friends and family can only take so much Disney chatter, so save them!!!! LMAO

Okay, this isn't about the parks, but I have beef with Disney over (of all things) a color issue. Here's what I mean.

I love the movie Sleeping Beauty and Aurora is my favorite princess. For the most of the movie she's in the blue dress that the fairies made for her. I happen to like her in the blue dress (and that's not because my fave color is blue either), but the people at Disney are marketing her in the pink dress and I can't stand it! I'm pathetic, I know, but the only time you see the pink dress in the movie is while Flora is making the dress and when she and Merryweather are fighting over the color again at the end of the movie. Instead they put Cinderella in blue and her dress was WHITE!

So, since it's hard to find Aurora in blue, I'm always on the look out when I hit Disney World and the Disney stores to find her in blue. (Yes, I can even laugh at myself about this)Laugh it Up fuzball

BTW, I've actually met quite a few people that feel the same way I do about this.

Thank gosh I'm not alone here! I've said it since I was younger (even when my fave color was pink). My mom feels the same way, but about Cinderella. She'd rather see her in the white dress rather than blue. LOL!

Samantha, I'm starting to think that we're sisters that were separated at birth. LOL!

Mine is currently Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom. It's the coolest rollercoster (besides Rockin Rollercoaster) that I've been on. My favorite when I was a kid wasPeter Pan. I loved the black lights and the vibrant paint they use on the characters.

Samantha Lucas
July 22nd, 2008, 06:17 PM
Ok here's where we differ, Roller Coasters and I soooooo don't get along. I HATE drops! Now for the most part means Disney roller coasters are ok, but like Tower of Terror and Splash Mountain are OUT! lol

My favorite ride is Indiana Jones at Disneyland. OMG That is the most fun ride ever! I also love Big Thunder and I have a pecular fondness for the People Mover. lol

Samantha Lucas

Ok I decided to share a silly story. When I was a teenager I was a band groupie for Disneyland bands. :right:

Anyway, not the point...

We all hung out in Tomorrowland around the Tomorrowland Terrace coz this is where the bands played. There was a whole group of us ranging in age from 8 to 80 something. It was family to me, I loved those people, but still, not the point...

So The People Mover used to circle Tomorrowland and there was a small group of us that used that ride like it was a living room or something. It took exactly as long to ride that ride around as the band took a break. So often times we'd just go ride inbetween sets. It was private and we could talk and gossip and not get overheard.

But one thing the people mover was famous for, was breaking down. And to the point that people got walked off the thing all the time. We saw it happen for years as we sat beneath the thing, but did we ever get to be walked off?

NO!

I mean we rode that thing hundreds of times over the span of ten years and never not once got walked off!!!

Until one night, I was on it with my then husband. Well at the point over the submerines the ride was clearly having a problem because we watched as car after car got stuck and only resumed moving when the car behind hit it.

smilies/bump.gif

Exactly like that!

So it was a little freaky, but I was thrilled because I WAS FINALLY GETTING WALKED OFF!!!!

Right?

WRONG!!!

:hissyfit:

The ride didn't stop, our car did the bumpy thing and got all the way around to very near the begining before it finally stopped, and yes they came and escorted us off the ride, but my car was three steps from an emergency exit door!!!

SHEESH!

I wanted to do the long walk over the autopias and down the backway into the old America Sings building. HMPH!

Anyway, there's my silly story. I know it's one of those you had to be there sort of thigns, but there it is anyway. lol

For a long time I hated roller coasters! I especially couldn't stand going upside down, so they were never my thing as a kid. Except for Big Thunder Mountain, that one I loved. And up until last May I had never gone on Splash Mountain. I've only ridden Space Mountain twice and that was enough.

I love the ride with Figment, though I can't remember the name off the top of my head. On and I love Soaring. It is so neat to feel like you're hang gliding over the different places. I do like the People Mover too.

Dani
July 22nd, 2008, 07:18 PM
You're story about the People Mover was funny! I'd like that to happen too on some rides. Just not any of the upside down roller coasters. Laugh it Up fuzball

Samantha Lucas
July 23rd, 2008, 01:47 PM
You know, I almost listed the figment ride as one of mine, but last time I went on it, it didn't seem as fun. :( I did however buy a stuffed Figment on the way out. lol

I think it's just called Journey into imagination...but I could be totally wrong.

I love the living seas pavillion, but I think I killed waaaaay too much when I was there, just standing waiting for the manatees to move. lol

Dani
July 24th, 2008, 01:59 AM
Yeah, I think that's the name of it. The Living Seas is great. I go watch the dolphins while I'm there. My "nephews" that are coming down love the Nemo ride, so we go on the ride then go see the fish and things.

Oh, the info on the vacation club is on it's way.

July 24th, 2008, 02:08 AM
Awwwww, thank you so much Dani. You are so sweet!

Did I mention Dale and I set a tentative wedding date and we're getting married at WDW? I probably did, I tell anyone who'll stand still long enough. lmao

I'm so bad, I get on-line all the time and do the fantasy wedding planner thing. One night, i had the wedding up to like 57 thousand dollars! :err:

If I ever even consider spending that kind of money on a wedding, someone shoot me!

But it's a whole lot of fun to dream. :D

Dani
July 24th, 2008, 02:15 AM
That's awesome that y'all set a date. And a wedding at WDW, that's very cool! I've thought about doing that if I ever get married. We'll see what happens though when the time comes. LOL!

Samantha Lucas
July 25th, 2008, 12:09 AM
When I got divorced, I swore I'd NEVER get married again, and I used to tell Dale I'd only marry him, if he married me at Disney World.

I figured that gave me a safety zone from the whole marriage thing. lol

But he called my bluff!!!!

So what was I gonna do, say no?

Dani
July 25th, 2008, 01:33 AM
He's a smart man!

On a different topic about Disney, we got our annual passes today (we being my mom, son and myself). I'm so excited about Sunday!

hollie
July 25th, 2008, 06:58 AM

Dani
July 25th, 2008, 11:50 PM
Well, start sweet talkin (among other things...*snicker*) the Smurf so he'll take you. I already told you that'd I'd bring you over if I could.

Samantha Lucas
July 26th, 2008, 01:38 AM
My annual pass runs out Sept 19 and I sooooooooooo want to go one last time before it does! :hissyfit:

Oooooh! Did I mention that when you have a Disney wedding, they give the bride and groom annual passes????

It's part of the package. :spotman:

Dani
July 26th, 2008, 03:02 PM
When Dale comes back tell him you wanna go.

And for the price you pay to have a wedding there, they better give you annual passes. Laugh it Up fuzball

Samantha Lucas
July 27th, 2008, 09:55 AM
When Dale comes back tell him you wanna go.

And for the price you pay to have a wedding there, they better give you annual passes. Laugh it Up fuzball

I know! But I'm using it as a selling point, coz I told Dale, this just means the wedding is about a thousand dollars less then it is. :D

I use blonde logic whenever I can get away with it! :err:

And Dale already knows, problem is he doesn't have an annual pass and that's what always stops us. :p My other friend who has one may go with me though...she says hopefully. lol

Dani
August 5th, 2008, 09:47 PM
LOL! Good luck on getting to go.

As you know I just came back from there and finally got to get online to check email and stuff today. I need a vacation from the vacation. Laugh it Up fuzball

My poor feet were killing me. I got blisters in new places this time than the ones I got before. The walking was great excersize, but it was hotter than hades while we were doing it. I loved being out at night and having the breeze working in our favor. Ooooh, I got to go on the Haunted Mansion ride at night for a change! It was totally awesome being able to see it all at night. It also gave it a little bit more of a spook factor too. The maid that was our guide into the room tried to scare my friend when the lights came back on, but she almost cracked up laughing instead because my friend wasn't the least bit unnerved at the maid being in her face when the lights came on. She just looked at the maid and said "Hi, how ya doin'?" My friend was trying to make it less scary in that room for her son, so she was joking about all of it and we think that's why the maid did what she did. She ended up scaring the crap out of a girl in line infront of us. She was messing around with her son and she let out this loud "BOO!" and made the girl jump sky high! It was an absolute riot. :huepfen017:

We got to eat at Cinderella's Royal Table in Cinderella's Castle of coures! It was great. We got to have our picture taken with her as well. I ended up with my "other mom" and my "nephews" on one side of Cinderella and my mom and son ended up with my "sister" on the other side of her. My son also got pictures with Perla and Suzy (the two girl mice that helped her make her dress). We also saw Fairy Godmother too. She and the mice put on a show for everyone in the restaurant. I have to tell you that I had never seen my mom so giddy about a character before. She was grinning from ear to ear at seeing Cinderella up close and personal. I though she was going to shake herself silly. Laugh it Up fuzball

I'll have some pictures up soon (probably on MySpace) and will post more when I get the film back from the disposable cameras that I had to get. My camera decided to conk out on me quite a few times, so I got the other ones and left mine at the room. Now I get to go have mine looked at to see what's going on and get if fixed if possible.

Yeah, it was a blast. I took a picture of something in the World Showcase that reminded me of you and the Smurf, Hollie. It will be put up with the others later and you should know it when you see it. LOL!

Sadly, things have been tighter than usual around here lately, which is why my September trip was canceled. :needhug:

Ok, here's the dream (see day in the life thread if you have no idea what I'm talking about) after the move onto my lovely little cottage by the stream...this is what I've decided to refer to my new home as :D

Anyway, after the move, and the getting settled, I'm go to Disneyworld!!!!

Oooh I sound like one of their adds, wonder if they'd like to sponsor me. :D

Dani
August 25th, 2008, 08:37 PM
LMAO!! You are too much. That sounds like a plan to me though.

Here's a picture that I haven't posted anywhere yet.

Samantha Lucas

Oh I LOVE that mural!

You know what though, I hate that stupid stage in front of the castle.

Maybe it's just me and maybe coz back home at Disneyland we don't have one, but it ruins it for me. The castle should be just the castle and if they need a stage, their freakin' Disney, I would think they could come up with something better then that.

Just my opinion though. :whistilin:

Maybe I should go eat, calm down. lol

Dani
August 25th, 2008, 09:04 PM
Yeah, I have a picture of Sleeping Beauty and Phillip on the edge of that stage. I'm not wild about it either because when it's in use they close off the entrance to the castle, so you have to walk around and find a pass through to get to the back of the castle.

Dani
August 25th, 2008, 09:06 PM
Here's another mural.

Thanks for sharing all those pics, Dani!!!! they're fabulous! When I was looking through them the one reminded me, when I was there last, I spent several days alone and one night I went to see Illuminations. I'd never been and I went right from getting out of La Nouba so I was late!

Anyway, I took the ferry in and entered through France and stopped to ask an employee in the UK where would be a good place to go see it, where I might still get in. I probably rambled about my being ditched and being all alone, coz she took pity on me and snuck me into the VIP seating section.

And yes I'm getting to the point. lol

So I met this adorable couple, they'd just gotten engaged and she was telling me about a dessert he'd arranged days earlier to be delivered to her at dinner, apparently Cinderella's slipper in white chocolate with fresh raspberries, and he'd arranged to have the ring in it!!!

Can we all say AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Dani
August 28th, 2008, 12:46 PM
You're welcome!

I know that slipper you're talking about. Travel Channel (or someone like it) did a behind the scenes at Walt Disney World and they had a couple that were in this fine restaurant there that had the slipper done like that. I was in love!

Samantha Lucas

If you find out that you will get there, PM me (or email me through here) and let me know, so I can see about getting there.

Why I was sick (I need to change that too) was I had bad allergy problems due to the dust and crap and the drop in pressure from the storms.

Ok, here's one of my favorite moments from my trip last year...

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q150/samanthalucas/Disneyland/Disney%20World%202007/StellaLuna1sm.jpg

I know, not very Disney, but when I got into the fruit bat exhibit at Animal Kingdom, I was mesmerized! Maybe it was because of all the times I read Stella Luna to my boys, but there was something that just awed me about these creatures. They weren't anything I imagined. I could have stood there all day and watched them to be honest. :) Just thought I'd share. :D

I met a guy last night at the truck stop who'd just come back from a week at Disney World with his family and he loved it! Which I find is weird for a guy, most are like yeah yeah whatever, but he was a lot of fun to talk to! :)

In about two weeks, we'll actually be able to afford Disney, then it's just a matter of getting there! lol We've been up in New Jersey and Michigan all week. Sheesh!

Okay, we've set a date (provided we can get the location on that day, but just go with me here) Sept 26th.

So I'm looking at our Honeymoon options and I can't decide!

Essentially we're looking at the cost of 1k - 1600, so I'm trying to decide on 600 dollars worth of details and I'm stuck. :p

1k gets us 5night/6days at one of the All Star properties, bare bones tickets and food :eat: (one sit down meal, one fast food meal and one snack per person per day). :D I'm sure the All Star properties are nice enough, but this is my honeymoon, I think I'd like something a bit more special.

1300 dollars gets 5nights/6days the same basic package only at the hotel of my choice, Port Orleans French Quarter, but you see, that 300 dollars, could pay for one more day/night on the package. So I'm not sure what to do there.

The biggest conundrum though, comes from the park hopper option. Now usually I always get this coz I love to flit about, but it's essentially a hundred dollars to add it and lets be honest, after the past year, we're getting back on our feet, but we're still having to pinch pennies really hard.

So on the one hand, $100 is a lot of money to spend just to hop, but at the same time, I don't really like the studio, but I LOVE Fantasmic, so I'd have to spend a whole day in that park without the park hopper option just to see Fantasmic.

Also it's fun to spend all day in one park and them maybe go to a different one for dinner or a parade.

Ack! I don't know what to do! LOL What do you think!!???

I'm jealous i didn't get a honeymoon at all and when we went to Scotland last year we got the cheapest place we could Monday-Friday 100. This year we can't even afford that.

It isn't where you go or what you do thats important it's who you do it with

Oh believe me, I know that part! I lived it for years, it's just where I'm at in my life, I'm letting it be okay to want things. That's new for me and a HUGE step. This is one of those things. :D
