Skill level: Intermediate
Make a foundation chain of the required length, or work row 1 directly into the item to be trimmed with right side facing. (multiple of 6 stitches + 3)
Row 1: 1 ch, 1 sc in each st to end, turn.
Row 2: As row 1.
Row 3: As row 1.
Row 4: 1 ch, 2 sc, *6 ch, skip 3 sts, 3 sc, rep from * to end, turn.
Row 5: 1 ch, 2 sc, *(3 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 3 sc) in 6-ch loop, 3 sc, rep from * to end.
Fasten off.

This looks lovely. I wish I could crochet...my mother only taught me how to knit. I keep meaning to learn, but cannot find the time.
