GAUGE:

2 pattern repeats = 4 in. [10 cm]. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

double dtr-Cl: Work dtr-Cl in same st as last cluster to final yarn over (4 lps rem on hook), sk next 5 sts, work dtr-Cl in next sc to final yarn over (7 lps rem on hook), yarn over and draw through all 7 lps on hook.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Row 3: Ch 5 (counts as 1 dtr), turn, sk next 2 sts, dtr-Cl in next st, ch 5, *work double dtr-Cl, ch 5; rep from * to last 3 sts, dtr-Cl in same st as last cluster to final yarn over, dtr in last st to final yarn over (5 lps rem on hook), yarn over and draw through all 5 lps—12 pattern repeats.
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, 5 sc in next ch-5 sp, *sc in next st, 5 sc in next ch-5 sp; rep from * to last st, sc in top of beg ch-5—73 sts.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Rep Rows 2–5 until piece measures about 72 in. [183 cm]. Do not fasten off.
Edging
Rnd 1: Ch 1, do not turn, sc evenly around entire Shawl, working 3 sc in each corner; join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st around, working 3 sc in each corner; join with sl st in first sc.
