THE WRITER'S QUEST<O:p</O:p

There must be a way to wear different hats.<O:p</O:p
Life's demands pull us this way and that.<O:p</O:p
The characters scream, 'write my scene not his!'<O:p</O:p
There's always a conflict resolved in sweet bliss.<O:p</O:p
Words to write down before they are lost.<O:p</O:p
Only a writer would realize their cost.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p

Each little word tells us the tale,<O:p</O:p
of heroes so special, the ultimate male.<O:p</O:p
These words can't be written in chaos or din.<O:p</O:p
The house must be quiet, the kids settled in.<O:p</O:p
Creating is never an easy affair.<O:p</O:p
It's dreaming and grasping words from thin air.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p

No one has said this craft would be easy.<O:p</O:p
No guarantees the words would be steamy.<O:p</O:p
Writing must be the ultimate high.<O:p</O:p
Why else would we work until sunrise,<O:p</O:p
struggle with commas, colons and ellipses,<O:p</O:p
de-was and de-had, and fix all those tenses.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p

Until our lines all flow like the wind.<O:p</O:p
It's amazing how well they all sound in the end.<O:p</O:p
When you've completed the polish and cutting,<O:p</O:p
you face the real truth of now submitting.<O:p</O:p
A stranger, not family, will see your pages.<O:p</O:p
The ones you've kept secret for ages and ages.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p

A book is a child, a babe new born.<O:p</O:p
It should never be handled roughly or torn.<O:p</O:p
Who is this person that says he can tell<O:p</O:p
that the words you created are ready to sell.<O:p</O:p
Such a decision must be very taxing.<O:p</O:p
It's only a stranger's opinion we're asking.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p

For in the end you accomplished your goal.<O:p</O:p
You gave birth to a story, a tale to be told.<O:p</O:p
Its crimson and gold, shines like a star.<O:p</O:p
A possession no one can take or discard.<O:p</O:p
It's yours my friend; your dream put in prose.<O:p</O:p
And nothing can tarnish the scent of that rose.<O:p</O:p
