Sounds insane doesn't it? lol

I've started a six book series, the series I've been dying to write actually, and I want to have all six books finished before I go back home.

Now as of the end of the month, I'll be ready, financially and emotionally, to go home, but I know moving in and getting settled will be a distraction. I want to live my life now with more intention and more focus on the day to day rather than the big picture, so I'd really love, need really, to have all six of these books done and subbed before I step across my new threshold. :D

So I'm buckling down

5k a day, which under normal circumstances, really isn't that much of a stretch, will do it. So I know I can do this, it's just a matter of discipline at this point and so far so good. In three days I'm just over 15k!

I'll track my progress in this thread for anyone interested, plus give you a sneak peak into the world of Brooke and Finn. It's a magical place that I don't think you've ever seen quite this way.

My hope of course is that readers come to love these stories and that the series won't end at six books, but that's up to you. :)

The Goal:
300,000 words in 60 days

The Progress:

Book One:

Wish me luck!

Thanks everyone!!!

Yesterday was kinda :P I did work stuff on-line blogging answering emails, updates on the website, that kinda stuff. Then there was life stuff and eating, sheesh, and so by the time I got around to writing last night, it was late and I had the worst headache, so I only got 2500 written. :(

So far today though I'm at 4k. I'm taking a break, then a pov switch and hopefully I can crank out another few thousand :D

Today's the day...in theory, that I reach the halfway point of Book One of this series. I'm SO excited, despite being 1k behind schedule and procrastinating something fierce this morning, I still hope to hit 30k before I crash tonight!

Here's your first peak into the world I'm creating. ;)

My hero is Finn Lockhart, GM of a world famous amusement Park and die hard bachelor.

Not for the reasons most men are bachelors, for him it's more because he feels he's already done the dad thing when he raised his two younger sisters. He doesn't feel the need to do it again and he's adamant about this.

Brooke Bentley had planned the dream vacation of a lifetime with her best friend, not expecting he'd get called away one day into the trip. (Anyone familiar with my personal life...sound familiar? lol)

Luckily for Brooke, she meets a handsome prince who shows her the keys to his kingdom and so much more!

That's all you get for now...stay tuned.

Thanks!

The last two days have killed me :P Between chasing down missing royalties and getting taxes done and other mundane life stuff, the days have completely gotten away from me. :P

I'm at 26k, but I'm going to go do some writing now before I turn in, doubt I'll catch up, but it's the keep going that's important! :D

Tax time is so horrible.

I'm glad the writing is going well.

The writing has been a little hit or miss this week, more life drama, but it should be over come Tuesday. I HOPE. Court is the last hurdle for the foreseeable future, but on the upside, I've written about another five thousand words on my quest for 300,000 words in 60 days, despite all the craziness, and that's the real goal anyway, just to keep going. :) I'll update the counter next time I open the wip for anyone interested ...oh! and it looks like I've bought a home!

I'll know for sure tomorrow.

I'm in New York City today, on Broadway right near Time's Square. I've decided the city is much more enjoyable on a Sunday than a weekday. lol

Damn life LMAO

I'm waaay off, but still writing, plus it looks like I'm going home sooner than I thought, but I will finish these books! grrrrrr I'm tenacious. :D

Keep going Samantha. You will finish them just not in the amount of time you wanted to.

Thanks :)

and truly the most important thing was to get writing again, because I only subbed one book all last year, when the year before that I subbed 14. :P lol I need to get back to work and start building again, I'm ready. :)

Sounds like you're making a lot of progress. Go, girl! I'm trying to write a new book every 3-4 months so I can have 3 to 4 done by the end of the year. I'm on vacation Monday-Friday and the plan is to keep my butt glued to the chair while my fingers fly over the keyboard. Feel free to drown me in tips for staying focused and steamrolling through the first draft! Seems like you have it down. Your wordcount is killer.

Catherine, if you're talking about the widget that keeps track of your progress, it can be found here: http://www.writertopia.com/toolbox/meters

I use the one Samantha is using here on my blog and the "Potato Guy" as I like to call him on my Myspace. They are cute, aren't they? And so easy even an idiot, er... I mean even I can do them.

Oh good, I'm glad you got it! :)

I love those things, seeing the percentage I've done creeping up and up makes me a very happy Samantha! lol

I have a personal blog I keep for all my writing projects, I must have like a dozen of them on there.

I'm about 3/4 through the first book. I should still get it done by the end of the month, polished and proofed and subbed, so that will be a wonderful thing. I'm kinda a freak with the writing, very prolific. A normal sitting for me is between 3 and 5k, I've done a lot more, so for me the challenge is more in consistency than anything else.

I get distracted waaaaaaaaaaaay too easily....oh look! Was that a butterfly??? smilies/bluebutterfl

Such a beautiful butterfly, too. LOL. I have a hard time doing one new story at a time. But I too write a lot when I'm doing a new project. My obsession takes over and my family forgets I live in the house. LOL

LOL That's too funny, but I relate!

I was reading on the Sims2 forum (yes I'm a total dork lol) a thread entitled how you know you play Sims too much when...

I loved this answer ~ You're dad calls you on your cell phone and asks where you've been for the past 6 hours, thinking you're out or something. Your response: "Dad, I'm just upstairs in my room simming!"

So I didn't meet my writing goal, but I bought a home. I'm happy with that. LOL

WOW has my life ever changed from when I tried this last time!

Having Elijah full time now, I don't think I'll ever get enough free time again to write that much, but tomorrow I officially start writing again! YAY!

Okay, so actually it's more like polishing, but still. I have 3 ms that need polished and subbed, I'm hoping to get all three in to publishers this month.

Anyone got some new writing goals or dreams? Share! :D
