Stickers n Magnets
You can make your own stickers and magnets. The magnets are safe to be used around computers because they are so thin. But they do stick to fridges and other metal surfaces!
The great thing about doing them yourself is that you can make them anyway you want! You can buy them at any business supply store like Staples and even Walmart has some. You can get "flat" or "glossy" so the look is endless!
Make your design and print out a sample sheet to make sure its the size you want. Now you're ready to feed the sticker paper or magnet sheet and print as many copies as you'd like. When they come out, cut them out.
I have stickers to place inside the cover of my book. This way, the reader can have a special place to place his or her name. "This book belongs to....." And I used a part of the cover so it matches.
These can be used to pass around to people to share your website. You can also use them as gifts during a book signing. The ideas are endless how to use them. Have fun!
Thanks, Amber! I agree that magnets are a great idea. My printer is not the best, so I spent a little more (not very much actually-around $20 for 50 fridge magnets) and got a very nice quality magnet from VistaPrint. I'm getting a lot of marketing mileage out of them because I just hand them out...especially to other Moms at PTA meetings who are usually looking for something spicy to read ;>
There ya go. Yeah, I didn't mention it but that is an option too. Usually the quality is better if you can afford to buy them already finished.
When you do it yourself, esp with the stickers, they come in sheets of 50 or 100 I believe which means you have a lot so you can do more than one project with them which is what I do. Magnets, I just make the cover of the book. Most of my friends proudly display theirs on the fridge so when their other friends come by they can tell them they know an author which is cool. I like that!
It really does depend on what you can afford, either way is great.
