Books by Janet Durbin
Evening all. I'm Janet, and I write all kinds of stuff. Mostly sci-fi and horror/suspense. Weird combo, I know. But I do have a few short stories out in the worlds. Not many because I'm so long winded when it comes to writing. Always impresses me when someone can enter a contest where the limit on the word count is 5000 words...and they stay under it with a complete story. :nah:
My first book is called After. It's about a virus created by the government that gets inadvertantly released and wipes out three quarters of the population on the planet before anyone knows what hit them. Because of this, technology disappears. The world has reverted to medieval like times where the sword rules and transportation is by horse.
Here's a blurb:
After a virus is accidentally released on an unsuspecting world,
After the death of their parents and a large percentage of the planet's population,
After the twins—Shyanne and Drayco—survive, only to watch all technological For the other, it is a living nightmare.
The Boss wants Shyanne badly. Why...they don't know. But they're going to find out. With their animal companion, a genetically altered mountain lion named Drizzle, the twins embark on a cross-country journey.
They encounter many obstacles along the way. The worst is a mercenary named Ruben. He will stop at nothing to accomplish what he is paid to do, even if it involves killing his own men.
Unfortunately, he succeeds in capturing Shyanne.
Now Drayco must survive his biggest challenge, a challenge filled with pain and suffering, if he is to help his sister survive the Boss.

My second book in the Journey of Twins series is Stolen. It takes place five years beyond the book After. I pictured Johnny Depp when I wrote about Drayco. I picture the Rock when I wrote about Ruben, the villian in this series. LOL Here is a blurb:
Five years have passed since the defeat of the Boss. For Shyanne and Joseph, it meant settling down and raising a family. For Drayco, it meant searching for the one who escaped during their last encounter…the mercenary named Ruben.
For the first time since the virus, peace fills Shyanne’s life. Now that peace is shattered. Ruben has returned and he has taken the one thing dearest to her heart…her son.
Once again, Joseph, Drizzle, and the twins embark on a mission filled with battles and hardships. Only this time the stakes are far greater. This time they hope to find Joey before his young life is ended forever.

Lastly, there is Innocence Taken, a book about a deranged serial killer who is searching for the One, the one he feels will complete him. I got the idea for this book from watching the news and about how women disappeared, and were later found, dead. This was one of those books where the characters took over and my fingers merely went along for the ride, bringing their story to life. Creepy.
This book is not intended for the faint of heart. It deals with a serial killer and is quite graphic. In fact, I have to label it as erotic because of the content.
Here is a blurb:
Nature Kranderson, a reclusive psychic, stumbles upon the work of a serial killer when she tries to locate a missing teen for her family. For some reason, the killers face remains shrouded. That has never happened before. She has always been able to ID them. It frustrates her, and makes her a little nervous. Unfortunately, she can see everything he does to the girls—every perverted detail—including a wire whisk used on one girl and a riding crop on another. He gets off keeping them naked and using them as often as possible before he becomes disenchanted. When that happens, death follows.
Nature joins forces with Sheriff Web Westerly and begins a cross-country journey that takes them to Florida. Another teenage girl is missing from the Brevard County area, and the police have asked for her help. They want to find the girl before anything happens to her. After they arrive, Nature discovers her disappearance has nothing to do with the 'Man', as she's dubbed the killer.
While in Florida, the police approach her about another missing girl. She was taken from a park near the beach and they suspect it may be the serial killer who has her. Nature confirms their suspicions. Afterwards, thinking her work is done, she gets ready to go home, back to Montana. Before that happens, she is called upon for another case in Daytona. The Man has struck again.
The news people catch wind of the missing girls. They learn of Nature's involvement and track her down, seeking an exclusive interview, flashing her face across the television screen once they locate her. Unfortunately, someone else is watching that day. A serial killer is looking for his next target, and he thinks he may have found her on the news.
