    Talking Herbs

We live in an apartment and my husband found a great plant stand with florescent lights. I planted some herbs in pots about a month ago and put them outside our living room this week. Here's what I planted and we already use the herbs in cooking:

    thyme
    basil
    rosemary
sweet potato (not an herb but it's out there)
    sage

Any other herb lovers out there?

I love herbs. I have sage, rosemary, thyme, chives, parsley, and catnip (for my cats). I hate buying fresh herbs at the grocery store and then throwing half of them away because I only need a sprig. Sage is great because it's an evergreen and I can use it in winter in my chicken soup. If you ever plant parsley...only do it in a container. It spreads like a weed. I'll never plant parley again.

Ditto for mint. I planted it at a former house and it took over the yard. I'll bet the people who bought our house are cursing me!

I know what you mean about mint, Cara. I planted mint and lemon balm on the side of my old house (two sprigs of each) and the stuff took over that whole area in one summer. At least the two herbs go well together, especially in iced tea.

I tried growing catnip and catmint but the cats ate it. LOL! I'll try to do what you said about parsley. I never grew it before because my husband uses a lot of it and I thought I couldn't keep up with the demand. I grew a bay laurel plant once and I want one again. Fresh bay leaves in soup are incredible!
