Here’s a bit of info on my story “The Outpost” by Red Rose Publishing:
Karl Jackson and Joseph Doyle are stationed aboard Track 7, an outpost monitoring the traffic in and out of the solar system. When Karl wakes up with his nose pressed against a metal plank, he soon realizes that the lack of gravity is only the beginning of his problems.
“…The Outpost is a cute science fiction short story in which the action is quick and the suspense palatable… I enjoyed the story and would like to read more similar tales from JH Bográn.”
EXCERPT: Breathing was becoming more and more difficult. The lack of air was starting to take a toll on his mind. He began pounding at the door, but to no avail. The vacuum of space was taking any strength his arm might have had. Even at full capacity he wouldn't be able to break through the heavy metal door.
Combining that with the most savage type of survival instinct made Karl take a big intake of air and remove his breathing equipment from his back. He placed it on the floor next to the door. Karl frantically removed the valve. He used it to hit the remaining small nozzle. He was rewarded with a hiss of pressurized air coming out of the tank. He then unscrewed the door control panel and ripped a few cables. He crossed the cables, trying to make a spark.
A fire came to life so fast that Karl was barely able to face the other way before the tank exploded, blowing a hole in the door. Everything that was not bolted to the floor came rushing out by the vacuum effect.
