    xreading Trouble with Dialogue

I've been writing romance stories for 9 years(wow, I just realized that!) and have always had trouble with dialogue. Which I've realized in the last couple of years. I've read constantly about it, and have gotten my computer almost killed by dozens of viruses from some of the websites. So along with any advice I recieve, I will be reading some more stories and pay attention to the dialogue. Thanks in advance!

Dialogue is a pain, isn't it? I have trouble with it sometimes to but I haven't been writing long and have nothing published. To have something published, I'd have to actually complete one of the many stories I've started. Guess I'll get around to that eventually.

Its a huge pain, lol. I just hope I end up publishing a story instead of backing away in fear.

    Default He said. She said.

My problem is dialogue tags. I love the little critters. Mostly I try to tone them down to "said" rather than all those nifty "growled, whispered, hissed, shouted". (I love all those words) But often even "said" isn't necessary. If there's no confusion about who is saying what, my beloved dialogue tag has to be snipped.

All you can do is continue forward and hopefully with time and enough practice you'll get better.

Have a go at Coffee Write here at the forum and maybe the authors who host can help you out. Maybe even give you some pointers on helping with your dialogue problem.
