What is it about bad boy heroes that attracts us so? I’ve often wondered that, because in real life they’re probably hell to live with! That’s never stopped me wanting one though and I like my fictional heroes that way too, which is how Killian Kinross, the hero of Trade Winds came to mind.>>

Killian is a Scotsman who goes to Sweden in the hope of making his fortune the way a lot of his countrymen did back in the 18th century. Gothenburg, on Sweden’s west coast, was a fairly new town, but it was growing quickly and was a real melting pot with Dutch, German, Scottish and English people all working together to build it up. Since I grew up in Sweden, this was a perfect starting point for me – I could combine a Scottish hero with the setting I knew best.>>

To me, Killian is definitely the "bad boy" type and an archetypal alpha hero – handsome, strong, confident, sexy and just a little arrogant, but a gentleman nonetheless. He’s also mischievous and has a sense of humour, which I really like in a man.>>
