I don't write a lot at home. Home is full of loud, noisy people and distractions. My son's taken over my computer desk. My girls get cabin fever (so do I).
So I usually write at the library, Barnes & Nobles, and Borders. In particular Borders.
As it can get noisy, too, I plug in my earphones and drown them out. I can't do that at home as my husband and son lift off my headphones or poke me 'til I'm black and blue.
Also at the bookstores I have a big selection of goodies.
I prefer Borders to Barnes & Nobles as I can stay several hours. Borders lets me hook up to power and recharge my lap top. B&N doesn't. Although I like B&N's cafe better than Borders cafe.
So Borders gets far more of my money than B&N. We buy most of our books there to support them. They're nice to us so we reciprocate.
I'm at B&N right now. My daughters and I are crowded at a table that's rather small for even two. My laptop hogs more than half the space. Since I'm paying for the treats and because I'm the taxi, the girls don't complain.
Where do you like to write? Why?
