    Default New Release Today

Having a new book to talk about is always a treat...even though you read it fifty times before you get to the final point.Odessa is releasing from Eternal Press today. The launch party is held on the reader's loop and I'm scheduled for a chat at 1:00 CST. Wouldn't you know that I just got a snowbird alert that my grandson's school is closing an hour early...smack at 1:00. So. I'll be chatting here today to try to share some excerpts of Odessa, my Western Historical Romance. I just sent a request to Brenda for a review, but I imagine it's going to take a while with all the other authors submitting their requests, too. I'm hoping I get as great a review as I did with First Degree Innocence. CTR rocks, doesn't it?

    Here's the blurb for Odessa:
The wagon carrying Odessa Clay and her father overturns, killing him. Alone and scared in the middle of the desert, she faces finding her way to Phoenix and Aunt Susan. Food and water run out, and Odessa is near death when Zach Johnson finds her. Squinting up into his tanned and handsome face, Dessie believes she’s died and gone to heaven.

Would-be-outlaw, Zach Johnson finds an unconscious woman alone in the middle of nowhere. Where did she come from? First glance: she appears young, but the curves beneath the dusty gingham say otherwise. He didn’t plan to become someone’s hero, but how can he leave her stranded?

Will the promise of Odessa’s sweet lips lure Zach from the secret mission that has his gut twisted into a knot? His father’s ranch isn’t the only thing at stake—now it’s his heart.

Back later to tug your ear a little longer. Doing the wave for Odessa!

UPDATE: Tennessee is in a panic over an impending snowflake. As luck would have it, Snowbird Alert just received shows I need to pick up my grandson an hour earlier. My chat has been moved to 4:30 CST in the Eternal Press Chat Room. Hope I'm not the only one who shows up.

Thanks, Charmed...I had a great time researching and writing about 1800 Arizona. Here's a snippet:

“Papa…” The word lodged in Odessa’s throat. Horrid memories
returned. Her heart thudded. She was alone. Hot, fetid breath
washed over her face, and she shuddered at the reality of how
close the animal stood. Her trembling fingers found the rifle at her
side and searched for the trigger. She raised the barrel slightly,
and with eyes scrunched closed, fired. Her body shuddered from
the force and a piercing yelp sliced the night. Something thudded
to the ground. Odessa froze in place, listening for movement. The
acrid smell of gunpowder hung in the air, but nothing stirred.
She took a deep breath and slid the hot rifle back to her side.
Her stomach churned and bile rose in her throat. Despite praying
to see some hint of sunrise, darkness cloaked her and whatever
she’d killed. She rested her cheek back on the blanket. Tears
slid and dampened the wool beneath her face. She’d never been
so frightened. Exhaustion weighted her eyes shut, but her hand
remained gripped around the rifle stock

    Yeah Another New Release

Today marks the release of my first YA offering, Shortcomings. I'm excited about this story and the message it conveys. I intend to try to involve some of the local schools to use this novel and the accompanying free student guide and engage students in a conversation about the appropriate treatment of one another. You never know until you try.
