For several moments, Ava basked in the strength of his arms around her before pulling back slightly. She had to know where they went from here in finding out who had sent the note.

"So where do we go from here?" She asked, her voice uncertain as she considered what was to come. Did the killer believe she saw him that night?

Victor shrugged. He didn't have any ideas. At least not ones that weren't dangerous to both their lives. "Do you have anything of Max's things that might give us any clues? Something that might show any handwriting that wasn't his?"

"Actually I do."

Reluctantly, she slithered out from his arms and headed for her bedroom. In there she had everything of Max's that she'd collected from his office after his death. There was a diary, a ledger of some sort and a bunch of notes that had several people's handwriting on it.
