Note: Remember that many yarns are seasonal and could be discontinued. If the specific yarn called for is not available, purchase a substitution yarn that comes closest to the specified gauge in your pattern. And be sure to make that all-important swatch to see whether the yarn works for your particular pattern.
Gauge: 13 sts and 20 rows = 4" on in St st on size 10 needles

With A, CO 99 sts. Knit 3 rows.
Note: If you're using circular needles, knit straight across on them as if they were straight needles.

Garter-stitch border

Begin Chart
K3, work across Heart Chart three times, working row 1 as a right side (knit) row, K3. Continue in this manner, knitting the first and last 3 sts of every row, until you have completed the chart. Change to B work chart in the same manner, then do the same with C. After completing chart in C, knit 4 rows, then BO.

Finishing
Work in ends and block blanket to measurements.
Optional lining
1. Cut fabric to measure 30-1/2"x31-1/2".
2. If you have a serger, serge the edges. (This step is optional but not required.)
3. Fold under fabric edges 1/2" all the way around and press.
4. Pin the fabric to the wrong side of the blanket and hand-stitch in place. Tip: If you find that you have difficulty maintaining even tension as you work the blanket (not uncommon when working with a bulky cotton yarn), just wash and dry the blanket according to the label specifications, and you will find that the tension evens itself out beautifully.
