This is the plan I used for my book TRUST IN THE WIND

Goal: To create sales of Trust in the Wind with pre-orders from publisher’s website and create post production sales
Book Audience: All readers of Women’s Fiction, Romance, Mystery, General Fiction
Budget: $3,700.00

ASAP
Author - Get firm publication date from publisher
Author - Get ISBN information from publisher
Author – make announcement to newsletter e-group list

9 – 12 months before publication
Publisher – assign book cover artist
Publisher – assign editor
Author - provide any information necessary to cover artist and/or editor

6 months before publication
Publisher – Submit advanced book information to R.R. Bowker for inclusion in Books in Print
Publisher – provide cover art to author for press kit and promotional material
Author – Write review request

Five months before publication

Author - write press release, complete press kit with sales sheet

Author - Prepare promo package with WriterSpace.com

Two months before publication
Author - Write new press release to include reviews received
Publisher – ensure book is available for pre-orders on website and in catalog
Author – send out press releases on free Internet sites (PRWeb, Webwire, NetRead)

One month before publication
Author – prepare promo materials (Use VistaPrint) business cards, post cards, stick pens, bookmarks, banner ad, etc.
Author - Compile links and sites for promotion in Internet. Start with http://www.earthlycharms.com/tools.htm and research additional sites and e-groups

Three weeks before publication
Author - send out press kits for author interviews, send review copies with press release and cover letter, and follow up with phone calls 10 –14 days after shipping
Author - promote Trust in the Wind via Internet using compiled links and sites from step 5 and step 8
Author – send out press releases on free Internet sites (PRWeb, Webwire, NetRead)
Author – send book announcement via author newsletter list

After publication
Author - Marketing activities continue with in store book signings and various book events throughout the year beginning with a “Book Launch” at local B&N
Author - Send published book to those reviewers that required finished product (Midwest Book Review)
Author – update website with “how to buy” book links
