She held the scream threatening to erupt from her mouth as another customer entered the alleyway with a lit cigarette in his mouth. At the same time, one of the men lunged for Diego. The other turned and ran toward the parking lot, leaving his friend at Diego’s mercy.

Jen caught a glimpse of the customer running away in fear, but most of her concentration was on Diego.

Diego’s left fist smashed into the man’s face, sending him to the ground hard. The sound of his nose breaking under Diego’s fist had her stomach threatening to rebel against the food she’d just eaten. She took a deep breath, trying to regain control of her nerves. Diego’s right hand still held his gun pointed at the bleeding man on the ground.

“If you don’t want to lose your life tonight, fucking leave us now, pendejo.”

The man clutched his bloodied nose and shot them one last hate-filled look before getting up and walking out of the alley.

“Spineless bastard,” Jen spat. Her body shook with anger.

Diego turned to her. “Let’s get to the car. I wouldn’t put it past them to try and come back.”
Diego clutched her cold hand and lead her to the car. The warmth of the vehicle hit her, calming her nerves a little.

Jen tried to swallow past the lump of fear lodged in her throat. The adrenaline rush still ran through her body. The feeling was foreign to her. She wanted Diego, but at the same time she wanted to run from him. He pulled so many alien emotions from her. The only person she’d ever cared about was Leo. He was the one who had always comforted her through everything. She never had use for anyone else, content with just spending time with her brother.

She’d never been in love, nor had she ever had a lover. She made it a point to distance herself from men. All she got out of the men she’d dated were unwanted kisses and groping hands.

Diego reached over, grabbed her shoulders, and hauled her onto his lap.

His rough, calloused hands made her shiver with heat as he rubbed her arms up and down. Her pussy moistened as his long, thick, coarse fingers massaged her skin. He had hands that were used to physical labor, a trait she found extremely attractive.

Jen leaned her head on his shoulder, snuggling her face closer to his neck. He smelled of male spice and warmth. It was crazy. She had only known him for a few hours yet here she was, sitting on his lap, with his rock-hard cock caressing her backside. She rubbed against his shaft twice, feeling it pulse right beneath her ass. A growl escaped his lips as his hand tightened on her thigh, while his other hand caressed her knee. The sexual attraction between them made the air sizzle with heat.

She couldn’t resist it anymore. She lifted her head from his shoulder and softly ran her lips over his. She licked and nibbled his bottom lip. She had a thing for that adorable lip that slightly stuck out.

His hand tightened on her skin, his rough fingers digging in as he deepened the kiss. A moan escaped her mouth at the feel of his hands pressing into her. Reaching up, she grabbed his loose, shoulder-length hair and snuggled even deeper against him. His hand moved up her body and tugged at her nipple, rolling the tip between his index finger and thumb. Heat shot through her body. The fabric, along with his fingers, rubbed the distended tip, making her clit throb even more.

She broke the kiss, tamping down the need to beg for more. This man was an addiction she couldn’t afford to get crazy about. He was here to protect her, and that was all. She had to remember that.

Jen placed her hands against his rock-hard thigh and pushed herself off of his lap. His throbbing length pulsed once more as she fought back the urge to moan. Yep, he was definitely addictive, and if she wasn’t careful, her heart could be in danger as well.
