Crystal Penney’s inheritance of half a ghost town comes at a difficult time in her life. The geologist had lost her reputation when an unscrupulous client altered documents and almost sent her to jail. She needs a change, but will she be able to work with the man who broke her heart?

Cody Blye still loves Crystal, but their uncles convinced her that he was not good enough for her. Cactus Springs will give him the opportunity to prove that he is worthy of her.

Two former lovers try to turn their mutual inheritance into their own idea of a tourist destination. Their feelings for each other lead to misunderstandings and arguments, but someone else has more deadly plans in mind.

I really enjoyed this story. It is billed as a contemporary romance, but has the added bonus of a good suspense plotline. Cody and Crystal are very real characters, both too stubborn at times for their own good, but the biker couple, Jolie and Harold, become the voice of common sense. The subplot of the dog and his doubloons adds quite a bit of interest. I loved reading about Cody’s get rich quick schemes and Crystal’s slower, more orthodox ways of becoming successful. I did get annoyed with the way the two handled things at the end of the story, and at some of the childish ways they got at each other, but the author’s characterizations and dialogue made up for it and her story and love scenes are excellent.
