Lady Mariah is the only daughter of the diplomat Earl of Doncaster. She is intelligent and well-traveled, so it is not surprising that she finds her first Season a bit of a let down. All of the men see her as not herself but a link to bigger and better things.

Harry is truly a man of a thousand faces. A spy in the service of His Majesty, it is his job to hunt down and get information on those who would commit treason. He has no time for any sort of permanent attachment, though he has all the qualities that a young woman could want.

Lady Mariah is finding her come-out ball a bit of a disappointment and goes to get a breath of fresh air on the terrace where she meets a mysterious stranger named Harry. Harry’s identity is not his only secret. This is an unlikely romance for in meeting after meeting, Mariah never sees Harry’s face. How can the most sought after debutante of the Season fall in love with a man she has never seen?

This author has done something unusual; she has taken a very modern style spy story and set it in Regency England, combining the best parts of both genres. I liked the well-developed characters; I could almost see and hear all of them. The idea that the heroine falls for a hero she has never actually seen is interesting and the author makes it very plausible. The plot is full of twists, turns, intrigue, and some very good love scenes. I think this author will be a new favorite with me.
