Caroline Evan’s life is like a country song. She has an abusive alcoholic father, demented religious maniac of a mother, was a teenage mother abandoned by her boyfriend and thrown out by her parents. And this is all before she moved to Memphis. This beautiful girl deserves something better.

Jacob Goldman’s childhood could not have been more different. He was raised by caring, loving, stable, and solvent parents. He is confident and handsome and owns the fastest rising record label in Country Music.

Caroline and Jacob’s lives could not have been more disparate, but Fate ensures that they will meet and change each other’s lives forever. First they must survive drama, bad luck, and turmoil in their own lives.

The author writes a good story here. Caroline is a sympathetic character who refuses to be beaten down no matter what life throws at her and in this book, life is not very kind. Jacob has lived a charmed life that is only missing one thing; true love. I enjoyed reading about the two making their way towards each other, but wish that the author had taken a bit more time with their story together. It almost seems as if she ran out of time at their meeting. Things seem rushed a bit at the end. The author does describe the rest of their lives in great detail, a dramatic story that the reader will definitely enjoy.
