Viscountess Constance Westbury is extremely knowledgeable in ancient Egyptian artifacts. She hopes very much to be accepted by Lord Lyndham as a cataloger to his collection. Being that she is a woman is just one of the obstacles in her way, being clairvoyant is another.

Lord Lucien Blakemore of Lyndham is a collector of Egyptian artifacts. His adventurous spirit keeps him away from the family home much of the time, and that is just fine by him. The very sight of Lyndham Keep fills him with dread; too many painful memories reside within those walls.

Constance is sure that Lucien will send her packing when he realizes who she is. The night of the Widow’s Ball will forever be burned into her memory, and her body ignites just thinking of Lucien. She is confident in her extensive knowledge of his artifacts, but she is also certain if he knew of her other abilities, she would be on the first train home. The spirits haunting the halls of the keep will not let her rest. Something horrible has invaded the Lyndham home for generations, and she has promised the dead her help. Lucien is certain that Constance is lying to him, but his feelings for her grow with every breath. He cannot trust himself around her; he will not allow the Blakemore curse to take another person he loves. The closer Constance comes to solving the puzzle; the harder Lucien pushes her away. She will not and cannot love another man who does not accept her wholeheartedly.

Passion and heat are a constant between Lucien and Constance, but trust is their biggest obstacle. Ms. Burns is masterful at escalating the sexual tension and suspense with her characters. Constance is dedicated to using her gift to help the spirits that need her, and that includes Lucien whether he likes it or not. Lucien is adamant in his vow to never allow love in his life, and keeping Constance at arms length. These two opposing character traits are exactly what draw Lucien and Constance together. Three generations of murder, stubborn ghosts, and an aging matriarch with attitude are the perfect compliment to a fantastic love story that is a joy to read.
