Sandra is a were, but her husband does not know. She is finally living the life she has always dreamed of; that of a wife and mother. Her past and a home invasion threaten all that she holds dear.

Kahne is also a were and a lawyer. Once upon a time he and Sandra were more than friends, but time, distance, and his infidelities ended that. Sandra is happy now, but Kahne can not help wishing for more.

Sandra has become adept at hiding her other nature from her beloved mortal husband and his son. An intruder who attacks her in her home causes long-term problems, including bringing a former lover back into her life and having the police suspect her of murder. Kahne is not convinced that she is truly happy with Trent and in addition to helping her in her legal difficulties he is trying to convince her to come back to him.

I really enjoyed the concept of this story; a werewolf who wants to live a normal life with a husband and family, despite getting furry once a month. Her fellow weres, notably her ex Kahne do not understand, and Kahne is determined to get her back. I liked Sandra’s loyalty to her husband, but I did feel sorry for Kahne who has just realized what he lost when he cheated on Sandra. The characters’ emotions are very real and there are some scenes that had me biting my nails. This story is going into my keeper file.
