Doctor Christina Farrelly is a flight doctor at Crocodile Creek Hospital. Once a month the love of her life, Doctor Joe Barrett, flies in from New Zealand for a week. After two years of being shut out of the rest of his life, Christina decides that the situation has to change, or the relationship must end.

Joe lives for the week he spends in Crocodile Creek each month. He loves Christina, but the stress of everyday life in Auckland are something he does not want to talk about. He is surprised when Christina decides that being his once a month rest and relaxation is no longer enough, but refuses to let her into his life any further.

Two young doctors are in love, but at an impasse in their relationship. One wants to escape from his everyday life, while the other wants to be part of that life. They decide to end the relationship, but a surprise pregnancy adds a new twist to their lives.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. I really like Christina; she is smart, strong, and loyal and deserves much more than Joe has given her. I like Joe, in spite of his thick-headed behaviour. I wish the book had been more about these two characters and less about the many other dramas at the small medical center. Their story should be the focus of the book, but there is just too much going on and too many characters here, which really detracted from the novel.
