Encouraged by her Aunt Viola, Judi is going to visit the country of her birth. Her parents died before she was five and her stepmother when she was ten, so this is an important trip. She designs computer games for a living.

Miklos is the second of the Queen of Valtria’s five sons and a Major in the Army. He is not eager to meet the bride his family arranged for him, but he will do his duty. He has not seen Lady Judit since she was a toddler and he was thirteen.

Judi is very surprised at the reception she receives when she arrives in Valtria. She wonders if they lay out the red carpet for every tourist until the handsome man in the uniform and his companions call her Lady Judit and inform her that she is engaged to Prince Miklos, news to her! Things rapidly go downhill from there until she is caught up in a civil war.

This is a very exciting story. I loved the premise that Judi has been engaged to Miklos for years without her knowledge and the author paints a very entertaining scene where all is revealed to her. The humorous aspect of the story quickly gives way to an excellent romantic suspense tale where both main characters show their mettle in one hair-raising situation after another until the very exciting climactic scenes. I was hooked into this story right at the beginning and the author kept my interest until the very last page. This is going to be one humdinger of a series.
