Max Blake, former Marine and Homicide detective, now works for a government agency as a security specialist. Her latest assignment is to protect a scientist who has developed a device that produces its own energy. She is to pose as his housekeeper, so she sets off with her two Rottweillers on assignment.

Adam Gray was attacked in Madrid but protected himself and went back to work. He is totally oblivious to the outside world until Max shows up. He was expecting a man, not a gorgeous woman, and certainly not one with two vicious looking dogs at her heels.

Many governments and terrorist organizations want Dr. Gray’s energy source prototype. The government sends in a top security specialist to make sure that he is safe and able to finish the project. Max Blake has an uphill battle to make sure that the genius in the abandoned looking house stays safe.

I really enjoyed this story. Max and Adam have a lot of heat between them from the beginning. Max is my favorite kind of heroine and the dogs are awesome. Adam is definitely not your basic nerdy of scientist. The supporting characters are vividly written also. I loved the description of Dr. Kent and could definitely picture the setting, essential in a good suspense novel. Even though this is billed as an African American geared novel, as it is to some extent, this is a very good story that should appeal to all readers of romantic suspense.
