Maj Julie Collins has lived her entire life in the shadows of her successful military family. Now she finally has her first command and the opportunity to show she can live up to the family name. Before leaving the states, she spent an amazing night with an amazing anonymous lover and woke to a note that said, “to be continued.”

Lieutenant Mathew Wolf knew it was a bad idea to sleep with the woman he knew to be his future Commander. Helpless with his need for her from the first moment he saw her walk into a bar, he doesn’t reveal his secret. Knowing the damage a continued relationship would do, he took the one and only night he knew he could have.

Julie feels used and thinks that Matt has an ulterior motive. Matt is unable to control the feelings he has for his new Commander, so he takes the farthest post from the base. Unable to stay away, Matt returns to visit a local village where Julie is kidnapped when she follows him. Matt and Julie must come together to beat a rebel determined to take over the whole island and its inhabitants.

Matt is hot, hot, hot. Brenda Gayle turned up the heat from the first page, and I loved the struggle between duty, honor, and love. The author expertly depicted the need of military women to prove themselves worthy of the rank on their shoulders. The book was spicy for its romance and exciting for the action; I was captured from the very beginning.
